Game of thrones: Final Season: Winter finally arrives....

The thing I am most interested in right now is what happens to Tyrion. She will clearly execute him for letting Jamie go. But Tyrion might flee to Jon before she finds out what happened. And I guess it's possible he could talk his way out of it, by saying hey the city did surrender, it was worth letting Jamie go.

I hope Davos ends on the iron throne :P
Yet the way the writing is, unless Martin said something very specific about it (eg Jon), i won't be surprised if we see something ridiculous like Arya+Gendry. (not sure if Gendry is next in line after Jon, but who else is there?)

Holy crap.
That was, hands down and by a mile, the single worst GoT episode I ever seen.
I wasn't happy with this season, for many narrative and stylistic reasons, but that one transcend all that and reach a whole new level of BS.
I, just, wow. That is what you call not "mediocre", not "disappointing", no, THAT is what you call just plain BAD. Gosh.

Hm, imo the KL burning scene makes this better than other s8 episodes :)
Besides, all the other stuff were the same problematic ones - eg Euron, Arya, spinning Jaime - while fanservice was less.

I also liked Tyrion's scenes.

We got another (and final) hound/ayra scene and the hound finally taking out his brother in a pretty spectacular fight.
So not a total loss.

I didn't like the Cleganebowl. Maybe it was hyped so much that what happened just didn't live up to expectation. It looked lazy; basically Gregor is undead unless he falls from the red keep and into the flames. A bit cheap imo :)

The hounds frustration that led up to his final sacrifice was entertaining. Watching his brother pull the sword out was classic.
But different strokes for different folks. That's why threads like this are fun.

You seem to be ignoring how many she has killed. Those crucified, those executed by dragon fire, and all those her troops have killed. All the dothraki leaders in the tent. Not all the masters killed along the way were necessarily evil. But again, there were only 6 episodes left, what were they supposed to do? .
(replying to your last question) They could have let her dragon fly straight towards Cersei, would have made more sense anyways, and burn some houses and people in between, instead of making her the worst mass murderer of GoT who randomly burned civilians. At least imo..

Personally, that was what I was hoping for. But then she would be too sympathetic to offed in the final episode. (of course that's never stopped them before)

Let's not act as if the show just became unrealistic in these last episodes. I think the whole season was rushed (which is even worse, when it took two years to make). Iirc Martin himself has said in so many words that HBO decided to end the show, and end it did.

But IF GRRM hadn't been such a lazy ass and written more books, you can bet the series would still be going on for as long as they could suck more money out of it.

That argument would only hold water if D&D hadn't decided to cut out so many major plot lines in order to force them to rush to the finish. They should have just been introducing characters like Young Griff right now. Tyrion and Denaerys should not even have met yet.

They were probably hoping that another book was going to come out when they cut many of those major plot lines. They might have thought they had enough material. It's all just speculation anyway. It will be difficult to replace all the money that GOT generated. Think of all the HBO to GO subscriptions that will be cancelled in 7 days.

Last couple of episodes have been lackluster, but the moment Dany started burning down King's Landing I just had this huge sinking feeling that did not go away the rest of the episode. Basically almost catatonic the rest of the way. They did poor Dany wrong. Although, as someone who read the books many years before the showed aired, and with the way GRRM works, I always had a bit of a bad feeling about Dany's ultimate fate, while at the same time very much being in Camp Dany.

Best Episode of the season was Episode 2, which basically was a "payoff" on a lot of the characters stories for book and show fans. (a book series that may never be finished) Episode 3 (Great War) was actually pretty good..and visible..if one watched on the app, which I did after viewing (overstatement) on broadcast.

But as @Kyriakos mentioned, this season and really the last two season have been terribly rushed. I mean did we really need to wait two years for this....

It's an incredibly expensive show to produce though. Maybe they think the audience was topped out and they didn't want to roll back costs so they just end it.

One of my worst fears has come true: The season is too short to be satisfying.
They screwed the finale up the second it was decided that there will only be 6 episodes.
Yes, the rushed ending forced lots of things that needed more time.

Its a fail from me. I give it a generous 4/10. They have so far this season:

- Ruined Jamies character
- Ruined Brann's character
- Ruined the Night King
- Ruined Dani's character
- Made Jon Snow kind of pointless

I dont really care what happens now. The only ones who have sort of done ok out of it have been arya and Cleggane, even though he did go a bit snowflake during the battle of Winterfell. I doubt they can come back from the nonsense they have pulled so far.

^Exactly.

I'm giggling hysterically at those who are claiming they're entertained. they're not the real fans. Why spend 7 seasons carefully crafting an intricate story involving so many characters and their interwoven paths to have it all invalidated by the nonsense of season 8 for reasons listed above?
