News For Each Region
North America
In North America both the HiGrax and The Box sold very well, thanks to frenzy of holiday shopping. Special holiday bundles for The Box appeared, usually coming with a pack in game or a second controller. The Box was flying of the shelves leading up to the holidays, and in the weeks just before Christmas, The Box was nearly impossible to find. While the HiGrax had limited consoles available compared to The Box, it also sold well.
TIRC bought out the collapsing Game Techs company for a small sum. The employees have been reorganized and they are ready for their first project. Zabriskie Entertainment made a similar move to buy out Crooked Lane Studios. Zabriskie planned to move Crooked Lane to Miami, but that relocation hasn't begun yet. Zabriskie did invest into researching ways to improve the graphical capabilities for their games, and for the most part they succeeded.
Nexus Systems released the Box exclusive Cross Country Cruisin, and it sold well, just breaking 100,000 copies sold by the end of December. It was compared quite often to the similar Formula Racing released by Illusion Development; the general consensus was that Formula Racing was the better game, but Cross Country Cruisin sold more copies, mainly because Nexus Systems home market had a larger install base.
Mann Entertainment was very busy for the holidays, as the company released two games, though one of them was just a slightly repackaged game. Silent Service: Gold Edition sold decently, mainly to consumers who got their systems over the holidays. Crystal Chronicles received a warm reception though, selling enough to improve profits considerably. Mann Entertainment also funded an employee training program that noticeably improved the overall skill of their employees.
Overall Inc. recently formed, based in Atlanta, Georgia. They announced their first game to be Fighter Stance, a (obviously) fighting game.
Europe
While neither The Box or the HiGrax appeared in large numbers in Europe, the consoles that were on sale sold out quickly. As soon as there were new shipments, the consoles would be cleared off the shelves in a few days. Many were disappointed though, that they weren't able to get a new console. By the end of the holidays sales between The Box and the HiGrax in Europe was nearly a virtual tie.
As Avalon Games began to work on their new game Xanea, they hired a well-known sci-fi writer to write the story for the game. Many gamers are excited about this and they expect that Xanea will have one of the best stories in a game for a while to come.
Illusion Development released Formula Racing to great reviews but only moderate sales, though it did do especially well in Europe. While they haven't turned much of a profit yet, they are expected to do so in the next few months.
Development of TeaTime's own console, The Camelot, is continuing at a steady pace. So far, no problems have been encountered, which is a good sign for the project.
A new game company recently formed in Paris, France named Spire Entertainment. Though not much is known about them they have already announced their first game "Shot From Above", a side scrolling shooter.
Japan
While The Box sold moderately well, it was again dwarfed by the HiGrax in Japan. The HiGrax was completely sold out across the nation. The Box was somewhat boosted by the release of Crystal Chronicles, which sold quite well.
GawShang advertised their game, From Up To Down, enough to have its sales continue at a steady pace throughout the end of the year. The game also started to turn a profit for GawShang.
A Japanese media company created its own video game branch named Massive Games Inc. They announced their first project to be Akio the Ninja, an adventure/platformer.
OOC: Sorry about the delay again. RL got kinda hectic last week. I'll update the stats tomorrow.
