Crystal Chronicles

Plot:
Our story begins with a boy named Silas, who lives in the Kingdom of Anaroth. Anaroth is a nation of huge island where there are deserts in the north east, ruled by Gangor Bandit King, deep forest in the south west, home of the mysterious Toki, and mountains in the north west, where the Lanquin Temple stands on top of the mountain. The world was peaceful until one day... Ezrai Raith, one of the five high priests of Lanquin, the servants of the deity Elifer, arrives in Adorin, capital of Anaroth, to deliver a terrible news: the Great Forest, home of Toki, is dying. The nation was alarmed since within the Great Forest, there was an ancient temple with great magic, and if the forest was dying, so was its magic. Silas, only an apprentice at Adorin Mage Guild, accidentally, bumps into the Ezrai. The eccentric priest, who apparently, loves drinking and gambling, but not smoking, demands immediately that Silas will follow him to save the world. Without knowing why, primarily due to astonishment, Silas agrees. The two faces many ordeals as they travel far north and into the west towards Lanquin Temple. At the temple, they learn that there was a saboteur within the temple complex who poisoned the seven sacred crystals of power, each an aspect of Elifer. Silas goes off to find the saboteur, since Raith mysteriously vanished, and indeed finds him. He learns that the saboteur is actually sent by some conspiratory group within Adorin, but that time is running out, since the Great Forest is dying. He travels south and into the Tokian territory, where he is confronted by the magical creatures within the forest. These Toki are little elf looking creatures who have mastered the Song of Power. They can sing the trees to grow, water to fall from the sky, heal the wounds, and many other magical things. They were the guardians of the ancient forest temple, but since the contamination of the sacred crystals, the magic was weakened, and the forest was contaminated, bringing forth monsters through out the forest. Silas, at the request of the Elder Toki, travels to the Ancient Forest Temple and cleanses the evil within. When the evil was lifted, for a moment, the Elder Toki gives Silas the holy water from the stream deep within the temple. He is to cleanse the sacred crystals in order to dispel the evil completely. However, back in Lanquin temple, he finds that the temple is underseige by Gangor Bandits. It turns out that one of the evil mage from the Adorin Mage Guild has corrupted the Bandit King and lead his army to destroy the temple, in order to rule Anaroth. During an epic battle, where Silas finally confronts the evil mage, Silas is heavily injured. He has fought many illusions of the mage, but exhausted, he could fight no longer. But before the evil mage, revealed to be Velagarst, tries to kill Silas, he is sealed away into one of the sacred crystals by the five Ezrais. Ezrai Raith brought the Adorin army to defeat the rest of the bandits, and Silas goes back to Adorin as hero.

Game Name: Xanea
Game Type: Side-scrolling Shooter
Consoles: The Box, Higrax
Brief Description: You play as a Galactic Police Core Hunter, an elite soldier sent to investigate a derelict space ship that, unless uncheked, will crash land into a planet, killing millions. It is your job to stop the space ship anyway possible.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Hello again, I'm Eve Barmore and I'm here with Jamie Gladys, lead designer at Avalon Games, to talk about their latest game in development, Xanea. Jamie, can you tell me a little bit more about the game's story?"
"Sure. You play as Finni, this sort of elite interstellar police person, sent to investigate a derelict spaceship that is dangerously on course with a planet. It's your job to collect 5 data cores from various areas on the ship, and make sure there isn't anything else important on board. Then the ship can be destroyed."
"OK, now, you tell me that you have a demo level for us?"
"Yes, I do. Remember, this is in no way final. In fact, I don't think...it..uh...wait... yeah, it's working. So, let's fire this up."
A large, battered looking space ship hangs in the middle of the screen. Out of the bottom left, a space ship flies into view. It speeds towards the derelict. It smashes a hole into a small part of the hulk. A figure in blue armour steps out into the remains of the ship. Everything is ruined. Switch to gameplay.
The figure, Finni, moves around a little bit, and shoots bullets at junk covering the door. It falls and fades away. The door opens. In the next room there appears to be a yellow flying scorpion hugging the face of a dead body. It immediatley hovers up. Finni shoots at it, it dies. When Finni approaches it, it goes to a cut-in movie, but the screen blanks out. Studio teccies run about shouting.
"Ah, sod. Oh well, I hope that got you and your viewers intrigued."
"It certainly did for me. Can you tell me where you hope to go with this game?"
"Well, I hope we can turn it into a gaming franchise. More games in the near future, hopefully. We gotta bunch of writers thinking up more game concepts right now. I feel very exited."

NEXUS SYSTEMS, INC.
Guest Speaker Conference

At the Frank Erwin Center on University of Texas campus, an audience of several hundred students and guests has gathered for the latest installment of a "Local Leaders" guest lecture series...

Sandy Wilcox, the MC, begins, "Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like to thank you for joining us for the third of our Local Leader conferences. Today I'd like to introduce Mr. Owen Nichols, founder and president of Austin's own Nexus Systems, Inc. NSI began four years ago with Mr. Nichols' passtime and hobby of programming simple games on a home computer. Today, NSI is on the verge of a nation-wide release for the new home video games systems we've been hearing about. Without further ado, I'll turn things over to Mr. Nichols."

"Thank you for that kind introduction, and thank you all for coming today. This is a really exciting time for Nexus Systems. I'm sure you've all been hearing about the hot new video game consoles hitting the market lately, and I bet some of you already have them at home. A lot of people in the business world still question whether home consoles can succeed, but at Nexus we think the time is right. Kingdom, Inc. and TIRC are both throwing a lot of support behind their new systems, and software companies are popping up all over the world to develop games.

At Nexus, we see those other developers as competitors, but we also see them as our biggest allies. A wider variety of high-quality games will help sell more consoles, which means more potential customers for us. There are already some pretty good games out there... military games, outer space games, and some interesting city and business simulation games.

I really think our project is set for a huge debut this holiday season. Earlier this year Nexus hired a number of graduates from UT's computer science department, and they've been working around the clock on a game called Cross Country Cruisin'. Basically, the game lets you race a convertible across the country. We're still brushing up the graphics, but we've spent a lot of time working on really smooth, high-speed gameplay. These new consoles can do some amazing visuals, but my personal commitment it to first develop an outstanding game engine.

Our other big goal is to make the game enjoyable for everyone. There are some great simulation and role playing games out there, but not everyone has the time to get into these. Combat games can be fun, but they're not appropriate for kids. Cruisin' is simple enough you can pick it up and play for just a few minutes, but it's fun enough you'll want to play it over and over. Plus, parents can feel comfortable giving it as a gift for their kids.

We think Nexus has positioned itself for a very successful entry into this new market, and it's an exciting time for me both as a business person and a video gamer. Keep your eyes out for Cross Country Cruisin' this fall, and with a strong holiday season you'll hopefully be hearing a lot more about Nexus Systems. Thank you all for your time today!"

If I buy Crooked Lane Studios, I could relocate it to another city?

I was thinking Miami. Oblivously there would be some charge to doing this. But I was just wondering if it was possible.

Buddy Zabriskie sat back in his comfortable chair and requested a coffee and the paper, he jumped at the gong of the clock in his room signifying that it was now 7:00 am. He rubbed his head, then push the intercom and requested aspirin too. "Damn nightlife." He muttered. The door opened and in came the secretary with coffee, aspirin and the paper.

Buddy sighed, he took the aspirin and sipped the coffee, he sighed even louder, how he loved the taste of hot coffee in the morning. He looked at the headline of the paper;

New York Times

Zabriskie announces first buyout of game studio!

Interested to see what the reporters had to say, Buddy opened the paper and began to read;

Zabriskie Entertainment has moved up in the gaming industry by buying out Crooked Lane Studios from a seemingly inactive Sebastian Anneris. In an exclusive New York Times interview with Buddy Zabriskie, we have recieved a small glimpse in Buddy's large plan for the gaming industry.

"Our buy out today marks the first step in our plan, we will be relocating Crooked Lane Studios to Miami to begin our rise in the south as the sole gaming giant in the area save for Texas. With our companies in New York and Miami we are poised to expand west and acquire or build companies in Chicago, Houston, Denver, Las Vegas, Seattle, and Los Angeles or San Diego. As usual Zabriskie Entertaiment will need the best people on this our recruiters are visiting college campuses around the world in hopes of meeting talented individuals who can help us here at Zabriskie Entertainment become strong and prosperous. We accept all applications and will hire based on skill and experience and not becuase of disabilities."

As you can see Zabriskie Entertainment already has their future well planned out, they just need loyal fans, skilled developers, and excellent programmers to assist them in reaching into the future. Buddy Zabriskie has told us about the company's new slogan: "Be the first to reach the Future."

With a slogan like this, how can they fail.
