Spoiler :
Game Name: Apocalyptic Galactic Piracy
Game Type: Sci-fi Adventure RPG
Console(s): Light Complex
Development Status: 1/4
Description:
The story begins on the planet of Arclow where a strange group attacked and decimated the entire planet, save for a small group who survived by escaping on board the ASV Shepherd's Pie. The Shepherd's Pie is damaged - ironically - by the minced up remains of one of the combat craft (ACV MooMoo) and manages to lose its bearings in the chaos.
The player is now tasked with taking the Shepherd's Pie little runabout to find parts to help the isolated Pie out - sparking off a massive set of adventures - and that Arclow may not be all there is in the universe...
This game aims to create a highly open-ended RPG with significant amounts of humour and a gigantic storyline. The graphical engine does not need to be top-notch and most focus and development should go to creating this world.

John Zabriskie sat back in chair after reading the recent Insert Credit Magazine, "26% of the market, excellent." He thought. Now with all these games for the Pheonix rolling in and about to be sold to the public, Zabriskie Entertainment will top the charts for the next few years.

After a few minutes John pressed a button his phone and said, "Miss Reed please send for Dr. Richards immediatly."
"Yes sir." 15 minutes later the speakerphone crackled again, "Mr. Zabriskie, Dr. Richards is here."
"Very well send him in."
Dr Richards went in and shook hands with John who promptly motioning to the seat across from him. After sitting down John immediatly got to the point, "I am proud to inform you that Zabriskie Entertainment has negotiated the rights for 7 games made exclusively for the Pheonix!"
"That is fantastic, sir! May I ask what was the leading reason?"
"They were sold by the excellent graphic engine you and your team created. I invited you here to personally congratulate you. Next week I will be having a company party to celebrate our success."
"The employees would love that, I assume family is welcome to come?"
"Of course. Bring the family, bring your kids, perhaps we may acquire some demos from these game companies and the kids can try it out and we can see just how popular it may be among the kids."
"Excellent idea, sir. Looking forward to the party." Dr. Richards got up and shook hands with John and left.

John Zabriskie turned to his phone to make calls. It was going to be a big party.

"Hello? Mr. Goldstein, this is Phil Greenberg. I hope you got my message.

Oh, you did? Good. So you know why I am calling, right?

No? OK then. So I am in charge of Fielding Frenzy development, and for that, I need to get the feel of what a baseball game is like. To do that, I need to go to various baseball games to get the atmosphere, rules, and every other little detail about them.

No, I have never gone to a baseball game before. Never.

What? No, well yes, I have a TV, but I don't have cable, only a Phoenix and a TV.

My internet doesn't work at home. I can't watch it here either, I have programming to do.

No, the only way for me to get the feel of the games is to go and physically watch them. I will need season tickets to the Yankees. I mean Mets. No, Red Sox. Oh, right, Blue Jays.

Wait, Expos? Didn't they move?

What do you mean how do I know the Expos moved if I have never followed baseball? Of course I have friends who follow it. Anyways, that covers the MLB side of the game, but for the other side I will need to go to Cuba, Dominican Republic, England, Japan, Italy, Netherlands, Mexico, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Australia, South Korea, Panama, China, and Taiwan. And of course I need to see the Baseball World Cup, European Cup, and World Baseball Classic at least, if not all the international tournaments.

What do you mean, who do I take you for? Only someone who cares about getting the best quality and most realistic gaming, thats all.

I can go fight in a war to improve WWW if that's what I think of you? I'm sorry sir, but I don't think you get the point.

I am trying to take advantage of you? Me? I would never.

Fired? But. But...

The Second Luncheon

11:30 AM. Too ordinary. And from some odd travel guide he learned that being little late for high-contexted society was considered a show of manner. Very well, he thought, no problems for me. He decided to get dressed at 10:03 AM. He had more than well learned that traffic in middle of Tokyo city was horrible. Cars move faster in American parking lot. Which was rather an overstatement.

---------------------------------------

It was a place called Q. What was this? Was this place owned by retired James Bond movie cast? As a foreigner, he had no idea why the place was named Q, because he didn't know who the owner was. In fact, he was suprised that the owner was a Japanese. Wait, this is Japan after all.

Miss Sakurada didn't show up until 11:37 AM. It did not occur to Isaac that his plan was thwarted and she showed up at a random time on purpose. As she walked into the restaurant, Isaac was busy looking at the menu.

"Tempura Udon... 18 dollars," he muttered to himself as he read the description of the food which looked the cheapest, "Sushi Plate... 34 dollars. Ridiculous."

He had never eaten, much less even seen, such expensive foods. He never liked food for their value, but for their taste. In fact, he was sure he had less than 20 types of food his entire life. Today, it might very possibly increase by 10%.

"Mr. Hayden?" called an accented male voice in English.

"Yes?"

As he turned to see the caller, the first thing that came into his peripheral view was the big pink circle at the entrance. Then his eyes focused into view as the pink circle got smaller. There she was, Aiko Sakurada, next to... that must be Mr. Kenta. He was shocked the first time they'd met, but this time surely beat the first. Oh boy, he thought. He still couldn't believe that a girl (but he was unsure, because he never asked her age, and that travel guide said not to ask women their age, size, or their weight), could run a corporation that big, and what baffled him more was that Hayden Games was practically in her hands. If it was less outrageous, he could have judged that her style was cute, with much generousity on his part.

---------------------------------------

Isaac was shocked again. The check came out to be well more than $200 dollars, but actual amount of the food might have costed less than $30. I guess I should give more credit for the "scenery price", he thought. The restaurant, Q, was very well decorated in traditional Japanese architecture curiously blended with futuristic design. He, however, strained to see the correlation of the restaurant to its name.

Raith would have loved it and ordered most expensive food in the restaurant, and with Silas around, they would have ordered that particular dish twice for that very reason. And that's one of the two reasons he didn't bring them with him,

All throughout lunch, Aiko Sakurada, or maybe Sakurada Aiko, he was confused, didn't stop talking. Both to Kenta, the man to who he apologized for his idea that he was a secretary, and him. He didn't even catch what she was saying, because he actually did try to eat whatever food was there. It mostly ended with Mr. Kenta whispering to her. She seem to be well educated in English, and without the obvious accent, she might have been mistaken for an American college student.

But in business matters, it was Kenta who did the most talking. Often, he whispered to her, but he was the one talking directly, about business, to Isaac.

"Well, Miss Sakurada, I mean Miss Aiko," said Isaac, "I do greatly appreciate your enthusiastic support for Hayden Games. But I came to propose some new ideas that we've been cooking up - I mean: come up with.

"First, the initial game: General of the Army, will be turned into a series called: Masters of War. And following GENOA, we are planning on 3 more games in the series, plus an expansion pack. Secondly, we were wondering if Karui Kiba Corporation was interested in buying the exclusivity of the game we are planning to develope after the release of Ferret Wars: The Eight Ocean. I believe I've sent to Mr. Kenta the related documents, and I do trust that you've read it. But I will let you know that it will be an enormous project and will probably take 2 years to complete, simply, 9 quarters; however we will try to finish as quickly as possible. Thirdly, following the completion of the Prometheus AI Engine, Hayden Games will develop a new Hephaestus Physics Engine. Here are the related documents, please read them over later. But I will tell you the main features now. Hephaestus will render the entire virtual world utilizing the concept called 'particle effect'. This concept will affect individual particles, as opposed to an entire object as a whole, to render the molecular precision of the physics in video game world. Lastly, we are also planning to develope a game called: 'Order of the Ferrets'. It will use primarily the same technique to bring about another Real Time Action Role Playing Game with an option for multiplayer co-op. We will, of course differentiate the two, The Eight Ocean and Order of the Ferrets, by unique storylines and features. The OotF will be a trilogy game: the first being the Great Forest, followed by Ocean Voyage, and Starflight, in respective order. I have a great plan for this game.

"Now, all these I've said, we cannot do without the aid from Karui Kiba. And we will, in return, make them all Light Complex exclusive."

There, he said it.

-------------------------------------------------------

Eugene was having a wonderful time as the sole supervisor of the company, for the moment. He didn't like being the sole supervisor because so he could pick on the employees but rather, he could do whatever he wanted, like playing video game in his office. His excuse was "beta-testing", but it seemed to Isaac that he tested rather too frequently.

Suddenly a phone rang. He picked it up, "Hello?"

"Hello, Isaac Hayden? I am Phil Greenberg. I understand you are working on a basketball game, and..."

"Whoa, hold on there. Mr. Hayden is on a business trip. I will get you on the line with him..."

Then in the screen, his ferret was blown up by an enemy tank.

-------------------------------------------------------

Now he just waited for her response. Then his cell phone rang.

"Excuse me. Aiko-san, Kenta-san."

He quickly picked it up and answered the phone. It was Eugene.

"What is it, Mr. Hong? I'm talking to Miss Sakurada, I mean Aiko." He quickly changed the name after a quick glance at her.

"Phil Greenburg? Who is he? Put me on the line. ... This is Isaac Hayden, speaking."

-------------------------------------------------------

He was on the phone for a while. The man was saying something along the lines of, more or less accurately, him working for Hayden Games' Mad Skilz. For that, he wants to go to every single basketball game in the world, and if he could give him money to do so, for his... experience in real basketball games.

Without even responding, he just hung up the phone, and returned his gaze to Miss Aiko, and Mister Kenta. It seemed they just finished deliberating her decision.

Over-The-Top, Redux

"All right," said Aiko Sakurada, the ruffled, lacy, and very successful girl. "You can leave."

"What's this? I drove you all the way here to bloody Q's, which is, I may add, on the other side of Tokyo, and I don't even get to eat lunch with you?" That was Katsu, the PR guy, sounding fairly angry. You should never be angry when you're a PR guy because it's pretty hard to put a good spin on that. You're supposed to be always smiling. And lying.

"No," she said airily. "Park the car somewhere and go for a stroll. Take the afternoon off, but keep your cell phone on. Pick us up when we're done. Come on, Kenta," she said, clutching her equally pink parasol and stepping out of the car, "let's have lunch with the Americans."

Kenta, to his credit, did not audibly voice his disgust with her sugary voice, now at least one and a half octaves higher than normal, which was already fairly earsplitting. He stuck a pinky in his ear and twisted it around in disgust, then exited the car as well. Katsu didn't even wait for him to close the door; he sped off in disgust. "Remind me to dock his salary."

They walked (slowly, Sakurada-san wanted it, but no, they were already seven minutes late) to Q's. Kenta guessed that she wanted the attention; Aiko knew she wanted it. They finally got to the entrance of Q's where Kenta saw a waiting American of Germanic descent.

"Mr. Hayden?" Kenta called out. Man, thought Aiko, I thought I was the leader here. I'm supposed to be givin' the greetings.

"Yes?"

"Hello. I'm Kenta Ito, Sakurada Aiko-san's lawyer." He intoned this last bit and hoped that Mr. Hayden wouldn't chalk it up to his accent.

"And I'm Aiko! You can call me that!" She was always interrupting at inopportune times. Before she could cause any more damage to the ostensibly business-like mood, the waiter directed them to their table. It was one in the corner, far away from everybody, where Aiko could be as eccentric as she wanted to be.

-----

All throughout lunch, Aiko could not stop talking. She was excited and bubbly and really happy to be with the man who created GENOA, a game she was going to loooooove playing. That stupid Kenta kept whispering conspiratorial business-related things to her, but she could stand it. Let him do all the talking. She would have all the fun. That was the way she liked it.

And now the business part. She actually put down her fork and chopsticks (she had been practicing all week so that she could wield a fork in one hand and chopsticks in the other to impress nobody in particular) and listened, because it smelt of video games and money, two things which she indeed liked very much.

"Now, all these I've said, we cannot do without the aid from Karui Kiba. And we will, in return, make them all Light Complex exclusive," he finished.

His cell phone rang immediately. He gave an apologetic look and answered it, giving Kenta and Aiko plenty of time to discuss it. Or rather, giving Aiko even more time to talk.

"I like it," she said. "Let's do it."

"We have not even thought of the ramifications of such a --"

"Oh shush, Kenta-kun. He flew all the way out to Japan. There's no way I can refuse him. Plus, you have to admit, GENOA is mad impressive. But what's this The Eight Ocean thing?"

My goodness, she didn't read it, thought Kenta. He quickly explained the basics of that.

"I like it too," she said. "Let's do it." Kenta could already detect the pattern. He glanced over at Mr. Hayden. He was still on the phone.

"Let's agree to fund everything," she said, excited.

"But--"

"Listen, Kenta, darlin'. It sounds like a great idea, so let's do it! There's no use protesting. He flew out to Japan to talk to me. You know that's awesome."

"All right then," he said, sighing. Now he would have to crunch some numbers. When was she going to hire a secretary?

Isaac Hayden was looking at them patiently. Aiko turned from Kenta and flashed her best smile; in other words, it was sugary sweet and filled with rainbows and puppies and things of that nature. It probably would have caused other, less experienced men to experience a short epileptic seizure; it did not faze Mr. Hayden at all.

"We'll do it!" she said, making a heart by connecting her index fingers and her thumbs and leaning a little bit to her right, which was the side Kenta was on. She pouted because he didn't copy her very spontaneous decision.

"Oh, good," replied Isaac. "It'll be $3,000 for initial funding for The Eight Ocean and then that can drop to $2,000 once the initial developmental hurdles are cleared."

"Done," she said, and they shook hands.

She practically danced out of the restaurant at 12:59.
