The more the merrier. I will finish my update tomorrow when my friend leaves.

Two Flavors

"Good news."
"What is it, Mr. Hong?"
"I just received a letter from Karui Kiba Corp., and they will support us in the system development."
"Great. So how's the actual system coming along?"
"We are right on task. I think we'll finish just in time to release our game in few years."
"You know... other companies are going public and announcing their games; shouldn't we as well?"
"And make the players die with anticipation with couple of released screenshots and trailers every month or so?"
"We're not that evil."

-----------------------------------------

This time, there were icecreams; although only three flavors - no, two - chocolate, vanilla, and mixed. Several representatives from various media companies were in the room enjoying their icecream. Twelve fifty-four. The door on the right, the audience's right, a man in white business suit entered: Isaac Hayden. He wasn't much of an... orderly, with lack of proper diction, person; he just didn't want to start at one o'clock. He walked onto the podium as everyone placed their cups on the table.

"Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen," he started over the microphone without even waiting for the people to quiet down, "welcome to the first opening and announcement of Hayden Games."

The crowd was silent now.

"First, you've never heard of Hayden Games before, but, with no thanks to Mr. Sumitani for our name, we are officially a part of the proud video game industry. For several years, people have shown supine enthusiasm for video games, and various forms of electronic entertainment. However, with the rise of the new corporations: Zabriskie, Karui Kiba, and Digi Forge, better known as the Big Three, I believe this is the revival of what have had past. It is our purpose, our mission, to become a part of this movement, to bring back the enjoyment of the people from the place of negligence to acknowledgement and appreciation, and stand among the top developers of electronic entertainment and give the best service we can provide to the public."

A wild applause. He waited for a moment for the room to be silent.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Hayden Games and its founders: myself, Doctor Raith Renson, and Eugene Hong."

Again, he waited for the clappings to die down. The most enthusiastic of them, Raith paid him to be there - just to start the clappings and clap as loudly as possible. No one else knew that, but he did.

"As our first project, to commemorate our founding, we, Hayden Games, are proud to present the new generation of Real Time Strategy: Generals of the Army, simple known as GENOA. The slideshow you see are some of the concept arts of the new game. As you can see, GENOA is a military strategy simulation game. What you see are no different from the myriads of those from war games you've seen and ignored for the past decade. But this, ladies and gentlement, will revolutionize this genre of the game: Prometheus Artificial Intelligence Engine. With this new engine incorporated, a new sub-genre of RTS will emerge: the First Person Real Time Strategic Simulation. What players will do, while playing this game, is planning strategy and tactics, and commanding the forces. The levels of command stretch from regiment to individual squads at a time. Of course, these levels may be interchanged during the game. It will be as if the player themselves are commanders of armed forces in the battle; not as third person omnipotent, nor as individual soldiers, but as a commander.

"And 'What is the Prometheus AI Engine?' you may ask. Well, my answer is this. The most sophisticated piece of program yet to be created. I know many of the previous games tried to incorporate AI program into their system. However, as the players found out, at their disgust, the AI weren't very smart. And I am not about say that we are going to create a sentient electronic lifeform. No way. I do not believe that is even possible, but I assure you that Prometheus will be the smartest yet. However, that is not the primary feature of the engine. Using a highly advanced object oriented programming, it will route every characters to the AI system, ultimately making each and every unit to become... aware. They will respond and interact within the virtual environment as if they were the NPC characters from First Person Shooter games of the past, and the very fact that GENOA is, in fact, strategic simulation, will represent each infantry men, for example, with individualized judgement. This new technology will mark the end of micro-management principlesof RTS gaming and allow the players to focus solely on strategy. The biggest hurdle is the integration of thousands of these objects to one AI. However, we believe it is possible, since objects do not each have AIs, but they refer to an AI. And not only GENOA, but the program will constantly be upgraded to be used over and over again in future games we produce and perhaps in those of other companies."

He waited a moment again for every one of the reporters to grasp the concept. And he appreciated the fact that Raith didn't hire an idiot. No clappings. Good.

"What I have just explained are nothing but confusing rhetorics as an essay on quantum physics. However, when we release the game trailer and game play video, everything will be clear. But those who understood, will understand the significance of this development."

He looked at his watch.

"Now, if you will excuse me, ladies and gentlemen, there waits a crumpet with my name on it. There will be no question and answer session just yet. Perhaps next time; we are not too substantiated on any matter to give you clear cut answers other than what I've told you today. Thank you, I will see you again at the Atlanta Electronics Expo with more answers. Please tell your aunts, uncles, grandparents, friends, enemies, perhaps parents, second-cousin-twice-removed, and their roomates, and enjoy your icecreams."

------------------------------------

"It wasn't your best idea to feed media people icecream."
"Of course it was."

------------------------------------

However he did, he didn't care. All he knew, and cared was that people cared. They liked it, he knew. They anticipated for it, he also knew. At least those who understood the concept of the game. But only thing he now realized was that... PC can't handle the requirements GENOA will throw at it. GENOA needed a powerful system to run it, or a console. He picked up a bottle of wine, poured to the brim of the cup, set it down and started writing. He'll drink it later.

To: Aiko Sakurada, Head of Karui Kiba Corporation
From: Isaac Hayden
Subj: Light Complex

Dear Mr. Sakurada:

I greatly appreciate your interest in our system. As a show of my gratitude, I would like to invite you to a luncheon next Saturday at 2:37 P.M. to discuss some complications, and perhaps, most hopefully, beneficial solution of our AI engine.

Sincerely,
Isaac Hayden
Head of Hayden Games

"What about the money?"
"What?"
"I mean, 'Do we have enough money to make games and stuff.'"
"'How have you been' to you too. After all that time you were away, that's the first thing you ask me? Of course we do. We never started that seafood company and also saved a bunch by leaving Eugene not-Captain."
"And the moment Raith saw me, he drafted me to clap at your speech. You start to sound a lot like me and became a lot more peculiar."
"And I'm supposed to be the good guy."
"And I was supposed to be the bad guy. But, I guess, this is your show. I just stay in the shadow and watch."
"No worries about money. You were supposed to be the bitter guy, by the way. But I'm not going to start using our moneyl; that's for a living, and this is just a part of the show. It's been a while since I stopped that priest ordeal. I suppose you're still having fun with that?"
"It's a monotonous job, but Raith has shown me how to make it interesting. But then again, as long as you're entertained, keep it up. But hey, are you going to do stock business? That's how companies make money."
"No, no stock stuff for me. I'm not into that kind of stuff. If this fails, then I have a crab shack to run."
"Sounds fun. Well, Isaac, I'll go catch up with Raith now. Say hello to Elaine for me."
"Sure thing."

This first update may be somewhat of a mess when released tonight but I am still trying to figure out a way to balance quality with quickness.

<-- is interested how this will go an may yet get involved.

Just to let you know what is taking me so long. I just got the older game Freelancer and I wanna play it some. But I will update tonight.

I am debating leaving the income at what it is for now. With changes to the amount you make per turn on the actions and sales. So everyone has base income coming in.

Update 1: Atlanta Electronic Expo ‘08

“Welcome to the largest ever Altanta Electronics Expo, with gaming on the comeback there will be more focus on it and that is what our show is all about today.”

“That’s right Jay today is the day that three new consoles will be announced and many many games.” said Jas. The two hosts of today’s show, young and techy. Stood around a small table with a big screen behind them and viewable below and behind and around them is the floor of the expo. Filled to the rim with gamers and tech enthusiasts alike.

“Before we get to the games we need to introduce you to the next set of consoles set for release or already released right now. We had our on hands on experience with all these consoles earlier today on the floor and it is time to show our experiences with them” said Jay as the screen faded into a video.

-----------------------
Digi Force Booth Recap:

Showing the booth titled Digi Force. Jay walks in and meets with a representative of the company in front of a kiosk.

“This is Robert and he is one of many Digi Force employees showing off the new stuff here at AEE today. So Robert what do we have here?” Jay points at the kiosk with two controllers, a screen and inside a plastic protective case a console.

“Well Jay, glad to have you here, this is the Takk.”

“Can you give us a little information about the Takk?”

“Sure Jay, the Takk is a console meant for everyone. Not just hard core gamers. With a vast library of games from the older consoles like the SNES and N64 we hope to bring back those players that left gaming with memories and nostalgia. With the Takk we at Digi Force are not aiming for the latest tech, we aim for playability and fun factor. The Takk will be cheap, relative to the other two consoles, and easy to use. We have a simple to use operating system to navigate through the options given to you. We have 256 megs of flash memory built in to store save game files and even mp3’s if you want music while you game. Connectivity to some cell phones and other usb devices. And so on and so on.”

“Sounds great for the casual gamers out there and even some hardcore fans with all the older and classic games available. Does this Takk in front of us have any games playable on it?” Jay replied. Looking at the kiosk and gripping the controller in his hand.

“Yes we have a couple games playable, we have Jet Stream and Blob Wars on these kiosk today and videos of other games as well.”

“Well if you don’t mind I would like to play” Jay said then looking into the camera “the Takk looks great, I’m going to play around with it so here are some video previews for Blob Wars and Jet Stream.”

(+ Reputation, +$5,000 Digi Force)

Video’s for Blob Wars and Jet Stream *Takk Exclusives

The video for Blob Wars begins with a simple and colorful blob in the middle of an empty surreal and faintly colored landscape, this blob begins to move and as it goes it runs into other blobs and the action picks up. The video goes through multiple sections showing the blob get energy and evolve into stronger blobs. Lots of enemies on the screen and very colorful and bright effects. This continues on and on until the end of the video where it shows the biggest blob yet and then it fades out to the Digi Force logo.

(+Programming/Artistic Level Digi Force)

Followed by Jet Stream. Fast paced amazing sprite side and above view scrolling shoot em up. Showing aircraft of all kinds. A voice over begins of some man talking about the horrors of what he faced in the war. A near the end of the video it shows a massive boss as it fades to white. The announcement of a released the next month follows a logo.

Karui Kiba Corporation Booth

Jas is seen walking over to a big booth setup with pretty lights and music. She looks excited as she walks over to a kiosk with a Light Complex setup with several games to choose from. She begins to play a game while saying a few things about it.

“This game is titled GENOA by the developers and it is an exclusive to the light complex. I can’t wait to try it out. I heard this demo is not very long and very early in development but lets see how it is.”

The demo begins with a live action introduction to the battle taking place. For this demo only squad based combat is ready. The goal is to wipe out the other squad without casualties. Jas soon finds out how to work the game and sets off to do the deed. Only to find out the other squad is acting very tactically. She compliments this and tries her best to rethink her plans only to eventually be flanked and killed by the other squad.

“Obviously this game will require some form of thought and strategy. No run and gun rts game play here. It seems the AI is as smart as the developers claimed in the conference prior to the opening of the game floor. This could become a really great game and innovation. The console itself from my first impressions is really smooth and easy to use. The controller is just right.”

(+$6,000 to Income, +Design Engine Karui Kiba and Hayden Games)

“This is the only exclusive demo avaible today but we have some videos, including the Eternal Kingdom’s which will be an exclusive to the Light Complex”

A video plays showing gameplay of The Eternal Kingdom’s. Mostly of a man on horseback riding along the front of a huge formation of troops and preparing a charge against a big city with a garrison in front.

---------------------------
Zombie Chronicles: Invasion Booth

The sound of people talking, clatter of buttons smashing and the sound of Zombies being destroyed in any way you can think of? Yes! Nuclear Kid Industries has a very vibrant and exciting demo available for play. The demo video as described and shown by the game design team earlier in the day.

“Level 1: The Farm

John is in his house, when a large tornado comes. He looks out, and he sees zombies coming out of the tornado. He grabs a shotgun, and goes out.

There are several Skeletons outside. These are the weakest zombies. He will be blasting them for a while, and then he sees that some Spawns, the second weakest type, are dragging his wife away. He follows a path through his cornfield.

There are a few Spawns. They are guarding his wife who is in a wooden cage, along with several other people. They are in cages on a wagon, and they are rolling away. He has to blast the wheels on the wagon, and free the prisoners, as well as killing the Spawns

After he kills them, two prisoners follow you, and one says that the zombie camp is through the field. they go through, killing skeletons on the way, eventually finding the encampment of zombies. There are a few spawn, and a Zombie commander.

After you kill the encampment, you talk with a few more prisoners, and learn about the resistance not to far from there. He heads into the truck with a few allies and departs, leaving you on a cliff hanger”

The video ends and the look on Jay’s face Is funny.

“Surely this game will be a cult classic, the comedy element of it, mixed with serious back stories and fun characters. What‘s not to love. A new approach to the zombie genre.”

The Great War demo video

Video shown by Dreamsoft

“A well-dressed couple are in a car, going down the street. Suddenly, a person appears, and throws a projectile at the car. The male passenger gets up and kicks the projectile. In a few seconds, the projectile explodes away from the car. As the car swerves, a man appears, and takes out a gun. He shoots the couple, and blood splatters. The assassin is taken away, and the view blacks out...

Next, the familiar view of the battlefield occurs, but it seems weird, there are no soldiers. The an Austrian voice pops out, subtitles are there in English: Bad news, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, has been assassinated. We'll need you on the front, so we'll be training you. After the 10 minute tutorial, action begins... you are in charge of an Austrian division, rolling into Serbia. Smoke and artillery barrages are shown in great detail, and the soldiers go through...

Soon, a young soldiers is running away from bullets, and is hit on the shoulder, the scene fades for a moment...

Then it returns as:

World War One: The Great War

Coming out soon for the PC"

The two hosts talk about the game and how the historical appeal is vast in titles like this.

----------------
Phoenix Console Booth

The Phoenix being the first of the new generation of consoles to be released has a good head start but no exclusive titles yet. They use the same free for all games as the other two consoles and the current situation doesn’t look so good. But the tech advantage as shown by the videos and kiosks gives them a media market as well. They have definitely took out all stops when marketing and have the name in magazines and some tv commercials across America. The only game that people are looking forward to for the fall season is Blindsided which on the Phoenix looks slightly better than the Light Complex and Takk counter parts.

(+$8,000, +Costumer Satisfaction)

--------------
Apocalyptic Galactic Piracy

A surprise hit on the show floor the sci-fi genre might get a kick back into its head lining place with this game. Showing off beautiful cinematic landscapes and fun and easy rpg element game play. Some information on the game is given but not much could be shown with such an early form of the game being shown.

(+Reputation Lavamax)

-----------
Darwin’s Dream

A very important game shown is Darwin’s Dream. An evolution based game with a long and complex, yet easy to use, life cycle. According to developers when released the game will carry you from microbe to dominate life form on the planet.

(+Design Engine Loser Games)

A video collage of all the games and announcements made is shown. Just prior to a hosts pick of BEST OF AEE 08.

Best of Award: Digi Force’s Blob Wars: for innovation of simplicity, combined with beautiful artful game play.

OOC: I had a hard time figuring out how to write this. I know it is lame and not very well thought out but next time I will try to fix my mistakes and get something a little easier for all of us. :)

Stats will be done in a little while. After I read the horrid reviews you givith me.

Heh, that was okay. Keep working with the update style. It seems kind of shaky but I'm sure you'll find something that works. :)

A question: the tech development money that was spent in the orders, is that shown in the expo updates?

And I would like to make a suggestion. How would it be if you let the players to decide what to do for their booth/whatever at the Expo? That would give you sufficient information on which details to go over and how. I'm saying this because the update was not what I had intended.

It was not what I intended either. I was lost when writing it. Sorry. Yea if you guys want to you can. I think from now on though my updates will be shorter "information and statistical" updates. Cause I suck at story telling. :p

Oh I will do the stats now.

Awesome update. If I wasn't flooded with Math homework I'd finish off my magazine reviews of the AEE games.

Well I am trying some new with this NES so bare with me. You know it will improve with time.

Stats are updated I think. Notify me on issues. I will update the console games lists and story list tonight to. As well as announce some new games from NPC's.

I loved the update, especially because I got so much attention and bonus money :D
