Time to decide between the final four (Arabia beat Egypt over luck). I'll give this two days as well to decide, and you may only vote for one civ this time. Sign-ups will begin Sunday if all goes well!
To continue the discussion of start era from the last thread, I would be in favor of Late Classical start (maybe mid-way through that era tech-wise). I really think something that gets in the way of these games at the start is that there is little to do in the earliest eras. In addition, for myself at least, it also can get a bit awkward trying to balance game mechanics with any sort of RP at the very start.
I've made a little mechanic to help with that problem if we start from a nomadic tribe in the case we start in the Ancient Era. It would add more room for setting precedents, generating myths and legends, and shaping the very first ideals and values. Starting from the mid-Classical Era is also good, myths and legends, in addition to history, will be already circulating while things are influenced by what happened before (meaning you may have to change and shape newly existing ideals and values) . There is also a little more mystery since you will only know history from passed down stories. Reading the comments a late start seems to be predominant.
As I've said to Civleader directly, not sure if I'll have time for this (between two jobs and two IAARs ) but I would prefer an ancient start; I'm interested to see what he has planned for a nomadic tribe.
With 7 votes, China comes out the winner as the chosen civilization. We shall be starting at some point in the Classical Era as most of the people preferred. I guess the Aztecs will have to wait for another occasion.
I shall be posting the rules later on today and accepting sign-ups while I play Civ until the classical era. It should take about a day or two maximum to kick off the game.
It's here again! I must say I am very excited for this iteration. With a very poor showing in GAP II I'm eager to be more involved with the game this go around.
