Gauntlet Suggestions

Sadly, the gauntlet checks can't sort between score and a condition, just one nor the other. We can have a highest score gauntler but it can be any victory condition and if we specify condition, it must be earliest date that wins.

Glad to see that in the latest Minor, you figured a way around this, and implemented my suggestion as refined and improved by Sun Tsu Wu. Unfortunately I need the major, and with the time waster it will be, I'm not sure I'll get a chance to compete in the minor.

I don't know if this would be possible to do.

VC: Diplomatic Victory (all enabled)
Map Size: Huge
Map Type: Any
Difficulty: Noble or Higher
Starting Era: Any

Caveats: Must declare war on each rival civilization at least once. All civilizations must survive.

Why its hard: getting dip without domination or conquest is always a tool unto itself, but how about a permanent -3 to relations plus no domination or conquest?

The obvious answer is to neuter everyone and get high pop while shorting the land domination requirement. But because one still has to tech up and build military to survive annoying everyone and still breaking their kneecaps, it will be interesting to see what leader choices, map styles, and even starting era shifts will do.

Any suggestions as to difficulty commitment, map size reworking, or troubleshooting big problems? I know checking for the DoW counter is doable enough, but I'm not sure if that's more of a "GOTM" thing.

Doesn't simply checking "Aggressive AI" do that or something similar?

Only for Vanilla or Warlords games does "Aggressive AI" equate to a -2 Diplomacy adjustment.

For Beyond The Sword, the "Aggressive AI" option has no adjustment to Diplomacy. It simply causes the AI to be focus more on Military (units, Technologies, improvements, etc.) and as a result have a higher Power rating and thus be more likely to go to War. At least that is how I understand the "Aggressive AI" option works for BtS.

I don't play many Gauntlets, but I check often to see if one that suits my abilties is running.

Settings that make me decide a priori to not play a given gauntlet:
Time; Huge; (Large); Deity; Settler; Warlord; Chieftan; Noble; and sometimes Marathon.

Seems to be a lot of guantlets with one or more of those settings lately.

It is all a grand scheme to trap you. First one to complain has to design a better gauntlet. Caveat: no changing the HOF rules and we have to be able set it up without recoding. Tag, you're it. :mischief:

Maybe we could synergistically contribute to the SOTD on CivFanatics? Nothing creates great screenshots like random personalities... Are there any good ideas for a gauntlet with random personalities that can actually make it more challenging than just not choosing leaders?

When are we seeing your entry in G-Major 57 then :mischief:

Oh and as Denniz says pop your gauntet idea down here :p

Map: Fractal (or similar)
Size: Standard
Leader: Any
Options: None
Difficulty: Monarch
Defeat Type: Domination

Earliest Domination defeat wins! Who can help the AI win the fastest?

That'd be awesome! Of course, you'd have to play OCC and city razing on so you don't just gift cities to the ai.

G-Major 57 was the last one I've attempted. Several attempts. Haven't submitted because... only wins can be submitted. Came very close once.

There... now you made me admit it... are you happy now?

Edit: Whoops... I'm thinking of a different one...Immortal/Quick/Conquest gauntlet. Yes, count me in for the G-57. I should have something to submit in a week or so (or I will go into hiding).

You want a (minor) Gauntlet suggestion? Monarch level, Boreal map (which makes it a BtS only I believe), Standard size, 8 opponents, Quick speed, fastest cultural victory wins.

I doubt anybody will rock the HoF tables with one of these, but it would let me tick off a couple vacant slots in my EQM table...:mischief:

Monarch, Normal, Standard, Archipelago, Domination, Rising Seas, Lowest base score wins.
Does that require recoding?

I'd love to see the following three BTS, no PA, no vassals, conquest gauntlets:

1. Emperor OCC always war on one landmass, small or standard size quick speed

2. Immortal OCC archipelago standard size normal speed, max number of opponents (idea from wotm25)

3. Deity small Boreal or Rainforest, must play as the Germans, any opponents. Speed...dunno what's most fun here, but certainly not marathon.

/edit: maybe we should allow vassals
