OK, in order to not hijack the America threat thread i am starting yet another thread on gay marriage since there hasnt been one recently for the sole purpose.

I beleive that gay marriage should be allowed since not allowing it would be infringing on liberty and the pursuit of happiness. On top of that there is no reason to ban it, because of the definition of the word "marriage". many people say that gays make them "queasy and squeemish". but many people find some movies with violence, squeamish, yet they are not about to be banned, are they?

Absolutely should be legal and recognized by the gov't.

I'm sensing an extrem lack of options in the poll... :hmm:

Absulutelly forbidden(for the christian countries, i can't coment the others)
What is the marriage? More or less it's a religious ceremony. It's done by priest. And the Bible deny the homosexualism. So a 'gay marriage' is an oxymoron.

Well, you can get married without the cathedral/chapel ceremony cant you? Dont you just have to sign some papers?:) So you really dont need the priest, though getting to go to jail is extreme.

They should be allowed to marry. Two gay people marrying is not going to hurt any Christian in any way at all, so even if they disagree with the process it is not their right to deny it.

Yay, here we go again.

Since I oppose all state-sponsored marriage, I am forced to vote option #2.

Absolutely disagree. While there is a religious marriage, there is also a secular one recognized by the gov't. One can have no religion and a secular marriage; in many US states living together long enough counts as a 'common law marriage' with no ceremony at all. The secular one provide LOTS of rights one cannot get otherwise (such as SS survivor benefits). To deny those rights, whether we call it 'marriage' or 'civil union' is discriminatory.

Danger, Will Robinson, Danger!

Damn, voted wrong.
Moderator, could you please cange my vote from "Gays Should Not Be Allowed To Marry" to "Gays Should Be Allowed To Marry". Thanks.

Moderator Action: No, that is impossible. Your name will stay with the option you voted for, only the numbers can be changed, but why bother? - Rik

It's a sin just as much as any other sin. So when I voted to "jail all gays", I also want to jail all gamblers, all alcoholics, all adulterers, etc.

All documents and pappers are crap. The marriage should be sacred and religious ceremony, not some kind of trade agreement.

Isnt jailing a little too extreme? I mean, really...

then if gays start their own religion they should be able to marry.

just to clarify: option 2 means that they can live together, but not marry, otion 3 means that they cant be gay and if they were they are breaking the law.

You can have your religious ceremony, but the fact is the gov't provides LOTS of right to the secuarly recognized version:

In the US:
-many death benefits such as no probate, SS survivor benefits, pension survivor benefits, etc.
-common property laws
-legal custody of children
-visitation rights in hospital
-family medical coverage
-dozens of others
