General Politics Three: But what is left/right?

😂

Yeah, that seems like a proportionate response. I'm supposed to say something about steam power at this point I believe.
What a glorious steam age there was on that sceptered isle!

Liberals desperately want to pretend there is such a thing as "principled" conservatism, but the spiritual center of American conservatism is the overseer cracking a whip on the slave's back - that's all it is and all it ever has been.
So, what is your endgame?

You are basically condemning every Republican, every family member of any Republicans, every generation of Republican past and present, including those who might have only voted Republican once in a while, as spiritual slavers, whip snappers so what I want to know is what are you going to do about it? That seems to be a fair and pertinent question.

I imagined the background situation to Biden's press conference on the Hur report as a West Wing episode. Some press secretary screaming, "No, no, don't take questions!"

I know the thread has moved on.

No, we haven't moved on. My personal favorite part of reality is when Hillary Clinton essentially took Toby's advice to Jed in the debate episode and then lost the 2016 election

You do remember the series well!

I'll go Google.

Politics is not demonizing those who you might despise because you have to be an adult and work through the system for the greater good. Cognizant that they might feel the same way you do and being aware that the alternative might be violence. We all get carried away and say things we shouldn't from time to time, myself being a prime example. I have always believed that, switched at birth, we could all have ended up on the opposite side.

At the end of the day, of course, if someone brings the fight, you have to stand up. It's better to stand up and shake hands than to throw them.

Let's just say that if ever there should be a Democratic candidate for President whose pitch is "you know how the Republicans are always whining about being persecuted and it's total bullfeathers? Well I'm going to give them something to cry about" that person will have my vote

I can respect that.

With a bullet?

Sure.

With a bullet?

No, with equal representation in Congress for every American.

Also, you know, aren't you the one always going on about how guns and bullets are absolutely essential for freedom? Great danger of someone taking that seriously I guess

Now that is funny enough to laugh all the way to hell.

It's funny because conservatives unironically believe that if the vote of one guy in Wyoming counts the same as the vote of one guy from New York it is the end of civilization

But at least the new New Yorkers skew the weight on the scale when they're already advantaged.
