I mean if that were to happen should Putin get the "greatest geopolitical strategist of all time" award? lol @ this timeline.
The American police don't seem to be following that script.
The conventional leftist take on policing is that it is intended to protect private property and the authority of the police, that they are the hired goons of the business class and government officials.
...They appear less as the hired thugs of a feudal lord extracting resent in the form of taxes and cheap labour, than they do a viking horde extract tribute from the lord in the form of funding.
The Republican leadership appear to support these abuses because they prefer to be seen as barbarians than as weaklings, but on some level they must be terrified at the realisation their dogs have slipped the leash. I have a very deep suspicion that the threats to send in the army are not to "restore order", but to take control away from the police.
Upgraded to second-degree murder and the other three officers are being charged as well now, not just fired.
Better than nothing, but too little, too late. I highly doubt this will be sufficient to quell people's anger and frustration in the streets. Maybe if that's how they handled it, to begin with, but not as it is. It is blatantly obvious that the only reason they are doing anything now is because of pressure and for no other reason.

Tactics, maybe. Objectives, no. Ernesto Guevara was a little monster who hated everybody who didn't agree with him (including those who didn't agree with him on hating everybody who didn't agree with him) and went about finding enemies whenever he ran out of the latest batch.I think Che Guevara's approach to revolution is the way to go if you can't get the military and police on your side. His strategy calls for the formation of a small core of actual guerilla fighters who do the "heavy lifting" of directly engaging with government forces while fomenting popular demonstrations/rioting to just serve as a distraction to keep the government from focusing all of its attention and forces on that small core of guerilla fighters.
Yeap, Gandhi all the way. If you repeat the French Revolution you'll just have all theSo I'm thinking- for this to accomplish anything lasting, I think it'll need to be supported by a general strike of the essential workers.
But it will have to be a sit-down strike - basically occupying the real estate.
If you just have, say, 20% of the country saying ‘we won't work’ and you start stopping the supply of the important consumables such as wheat, petroleum, or meat you'll get somewhere.

Gandhi was working with a population that was not all that far removed from agrarian.Gandhi still got fewer dead than the French Revolution.
French revolution was just a bigger mountain of dead.Gandhi still got fewer dead than the French Revolution.
I won't dispute that, but still believe upgrading drastically increases the odds that they'll get off. And I don't want to see that. The previous charge wouldn't have happened at all without outrage and pressure. The same could be said for the upgrade.
