Germany has been existing since 843 (Treaty of Verdun) when the Frankish Empire was divided up into the East Frankish Empire (now Germany) and West Frankish Kingdom (now France).
The Franks were (no, ARE) a Germanic tribe that conquered Gaulle when the Roman rule ceased. They live around Nuremberg today, northern Bavaria.
