Get the Rev. B patch (Vanilla)! And Warlords 2.08 patch!

Hyper Nova, if you load one of those vanilla civ maps (like the 18civ earht) into Warlords, I assume it plays with Warlords features?

TBH i didnt try them out to that extent they worked and had the starting settings right eg if you played as English you start in England if you're French you start in france etc but i dont know about the actual features like UU and costs etc. I Know i could only choose Elizabeth as the English but that is just the settings of the map i think.

I don't think at that point it matters the fact they work is what I like. BTW i never renamed the files so i think they work now just as if you did so probally have the warlords features

just after posting earlier, I clicked on Scenarios (in warlords, no vanilla) and saw the scenarios from vanilla including the 18civ earht one. I'm playing it now... didn't let me set rules, so there's tons of barbarians, ugh. well, back to my game... :)

I don't know whether its the patch or whether i set some odd setting but i notice itunes keeps opening up when playing i know it happens because i know i start up with a fresh machine and then when i quit it is open, it even made my game to crash to the desktop (1st tiem since patch) when for some reason it was trying to access the music store and the server timed out.

Any one know if i set something thats causing it to open? or is it do do with the patch?

I got the problem with the sound in Warlords.

No sound when i promote units, or when i loss a unit. Also no sound when I navigate the globe first. (i get the movement bonus)

iMac G5 (2Ghz, 2GB RAM, ATI Radeon 9600 128MB)

Yep, it crashes for me too on a MacBook (Core Duo, 1GB, Mac OS X 10.4.8, 2GHz). Both patches for Civ4 and Warlords Rev crash my system

Moderator Action: I've moved this post from the old Get The Patch thread, which was for Civ4 Rev A.
I've closed the old thread to avoid further confusion.

I haven't had any real issues with the Warlords patch to 2.08. The sound all works, I can see Mehmed with my Nvidia card, and the video glitch where you could see into the fog when you are next to where the map wraps is fixed. This is on a 24" iMac. I haven't run vanilla any.

I am seeing the "Albert Einstein born in B (G)". This has changed with this patch. Before all of the city names were unique, so it would just say the city. But people would use an exploit where they would change the name of their first city to the names that other civs used. If it didn't allow a name then you knew that civ was playing. So now you can have the same city name for different civs, so the born in comment is supposed to have the city name and civ name. This might be fixable in an XML file, as it seems to me that it would be happening at that level.

Having the following issues with Civ4 (vanilla) RevB:

* No sounds at all at any time except ambient sounds.
* When playing in GameSpy as a guest, constantly get dialog that a player is trying to connect, and I need to open ports, even though I am not host and opened and forwarded all ports (is this even necessary?).
* To connect to GameSpy lobby, I had to create account within Civ4.

Does my account name include the -tk that they placed at the end of my desired username? I'm still having trouble connecting... I've created an account from within the game, but all I'm getting is hesitation at the clouds when I hit login.

I've checked for code outside of the C++ core software that could output this message, and it looks as though the <City> (<Civ>) format is provided from within the C++ code, and simply displayed by the Python code. So it's not possible to fix this without recompiling the software. Sorry :(

No big deal for me. It's been months since I last played Civ IV, so I need some time to reacquaint myself with it. For starters, I've already copied a vanilla WBSave (Europe) and altered the map's suffix so it'll run properly in Warlords. Now I need to generate a 24-civ Warlords map, go into it with TextEdit and, using information from the aforementioned map, modify the copied Europe map accordingly so there are more civilizations (properly placed, too!) to play with. Carthage, the Vikings, the Celts ... oh, yeah!

I'd love an Earth map! Usually, civ comes with at least some earth map made my someone, but I don't see anything with Warlords. So do you think you could share that 24-civ world map when you've modded it for Warlords? :p

I'll gladly share the finished map. I can't promise a timeline, though, as I've got a lot of things going on IRL, but when the map is finished, I'll post it here for others to download (which is another thing I need to refresh myself on how to do).

This is the process I'm undertaking to produce a 24-civ Warlords map:

1. I'll take one of my custom 18-civ Earth maps from vanilla Civ IV and rename the suffix so it will open up in Warlords.

2. I'll generate a random 24-civ Warlords map.

3. Closing out of the game, I'll launch TextEdit and open up the maps and, from there, do some XML editing.

4. The XML editing should mainly be limited to copying nation data from the random 24-civ Warlords map and putting it into the 18-civ Warlords map (which was formerly a vanilla Civ IV map), and making sure everything lines up (i.e. if the Celts are Team 21, then their unique traits info need to be #21 as well, since, from what I can tell, Civ IV Vanilla/Warlords reads XML information in a sequential manner).

5. Test the completed map in an actual game.

6. Fix bugs, if any.

7. Post said map for download.

hi all,

i have already read in this forum about some problems with the sounds in warlords after installing the new patch. but no one has an answer, or i just not see any.
so at all, i have the same problem. sound doesn´t work during fights, or when i click on buttons or even when i get a new technology, also the "persons " (doesn´t know the right word in english, sry) don´t talk to me when activating them. The hole interactive sound doesn´t work well.
These things and problems are in my opinion the same like the soundbugs at the first version from civ IV.
But some good things: its much more faster to play, and not so much system freezings. But at all without sounds not really fun to play.

Could someone pl answer this message. My question: is the sound problem my fault, or the games one? And what can i do to fix it. Or will a new patch come out soon?.

Maybe my technical system information will help too:
Dual G5 1,8 (no intel!), 3GB Ram Memory, ATI Radeon 9800 XT 256MB, OSX 10.4.8.

I hope for some answer!

My observations after patching warlords:
- Only ambient sounds
- The city indication bars for growth and production are sometimes empty (no orange bars) even when the city is growing or production is in progress
- Occasionally (parts of) the screen gets colored (screenshot). Moving to another part of the map and returning helps to get rid off it. Patch.png
- Loading the wotm 5 saves looks like this WOTM.png The upper half of the base terrain is black. I noticed as well that the loading process took much longer than usaul for these files.

Although my machine is at the lower limits of the the spec (1,8 GHz G5, FX 5200) I have never experienced such problems (neither CivIV nor Warlords).

I haven't played very far into a game, but so far, I hear music, city noises, Mr Spock reporting the tech advance text, and animal attack noises. Is this more than you get?

This has been reported by some PC players as well. It seems it is particularly prevalent on Fantasy Realm maps, due to the N-S wrapping, and I used to see it before the latest Patches on my Mac Pro + Nvidia 7300. I don't see it now.

I hear music, windhowling, the drums during city attack but not the individual unit sounds during attack, no animal spounds. Sometimes I hear the neigh of a knight's horse.

I've experienced no problems at all since patching, but I'll be playing at greater length tomorrow, so I'll keep a close ear on the sounds and report back.

As I've bet bitten by the civ-bug all week, I've played lots of civ warlords :)

I have imac core 2 duo 24" imac, upgraded/maxed video card, and I'm pretty sure all audios work perfectly. Unfortunately, game is crashing more than ever. Usually this is to the desktop and I just restart. Last night for the first time ever for my last 2 mac computers, the game even crashed my operating system, the whold thing! command + option +escape could not even force quit the program, I had to turn off the computer.

Also, once in awhile things like the great wall and city walls go on the fritz. Like they flash black reall fast (like strobe light effect), screen sort of flickers. Restarting fixes problem, and sometimes loading enough screens like advisors will fix this, or going to the next turn.

I have all video settings on maximum.
