Yeah, so this is pretty bad. On the Media reported a few weeks ago that at least ten state legislatures, largely Republican, are considering laws that would limit protest rights.
The solution to stop these laws is probably going to come from the right. Pro-life groups are strongly in favor of free speech laws and will fight hard to keep their protest rights. That sort of internal pressure on Republicans is likely to be pretty effective. In addition, Neil Gorsuch, Trump’s Supreme Court pick, is a staunch free speech supporter, but of course the effect of Gorsuch on the bench will take a while to develop.
