I think the GOP is trying to fix its image lately. Ensign and Sanford have certainly done the work necessary to rebrand the party in the image of Clinton and Edwards as opposed to Craig, Vitter, and Foley.

The State (South Carolina Newspaper) has been sitting on some love letters to Ms. Argentina for the last couple months. Damn liberal media
Technically, according to the SC Criminal Code, Sanford could be prosecuted. Fat chance of that happening of course.
Hypocrisy Watch: Sanford, on ousting incoming Republican Speaker Bob Livingstone: "The bottom line ... is he still lied. He lied under a different oath, and that is the oath to his wife."
Lt. Gov Andre Bauersays he's prepared to take Sanford's place, but won't push it.
Mrs. Sanford has asked her husband to leave two weeks ago, but changed her mind.
Finally, Sanford as taken three state-funded trips to Argentina. Anyone want to bet he stayed chaste on all three of them?

It's not like confirming the politically party of a politician takes longer than 15 seconds. A mistake being repeated might not be a conspiracy, but it sure as hell is a mark of shoddy journalism.
