GR13 - AWE on LK's world map

Yup, now that we have some rails we can run an osbolete army in and rush market or an aqua. Otherwise a court or a cav is better than nothing. I don't even have an issue with the knights as they are only marginal now. That extra attack and move is so useful.

Well it looks like my plan of playing over the Sun/Mon days off are dead. I do not get home until 8pm for Tue-Sat, so it will be a struggle to get much done the rest of the week.

Whose idea was this to go back to work anyway.

Five turns over 4 days is doable even if you get home at 8. Thats 2 turns 2 days (2-3 hours), one turn another day and a day off.

I would like to keep it to 4 days, but if you can finish your turns in 5 total days, then that is ok too. That is a turn a day on average.

It is a moot point right now as the save is still out. Here I was originally worried that NP would turn it around before last Friday. I hope things are ok. One thing for sure I will at least post every day, so you know I am still at it.

Only thing that has to be obey is watching dancing with the stars with the boss lady. I can skate on anything else, but I do want to keep her willing to cook. :D

hmm, what's wrong with NP. I am sure he would have updated us on the progress. I am guessing that there might be some issues.
Might be wise to skip/swap him for now and wait until he tells us his status.

Let's give him one more day. He said that he got it, so it could be quite frustrating for NP if he already invested some hours and get skipped/swapped.

I agree markh, I was reluctant to suggest this. Knowing NP, he is pretty reliable, so I hope everything is fine with him.

Thanks for your kind concern, gentlemen, though I shouldn't have given you cause for it. I just couldn't find time to play at all in the first two days after my got-it, which I didn't expect, and eventually got engrossed in a long final session without checking in here beforehand as I should have. My apologies.

1725 (0): Building marketplaces before factories is misguided at this late stage in the game, particularly when a lot of the cities involved are already happy enough to work all the shield-yielding tiles available to them--and a fortiori when we have Hoover. I change a lot of marketplace builds to factories.

1730 (1): We capture Russian Herakleia, held by two riflemen, and destroy at least one frigate in port (3-0).

We raze Novgorod, held by three riflemen (6-0).

After completing our rail line to Scandinavia, we raze Nuremburg, held by two riflemen and an LB (9-0). This ends the enemy presence behind our lines.

We raze Orenburg, held by three riflemen (12-0). We capture two cannon and three workers (apart from the razing).

We found the tactical town of Tan and See to give us access to Bryansk.

We raze Bryansk, held by four riflemen (16-0).

We found Furbelow near the ruins of Bryansk, and claim our crucial fifth luxury. I think some of you were holding back against the Russians just to avoid the MM at this point. ;) Eventually I'm able to cut the lux rate to 10%.

We auto-raze another newly founded Indian city (New Dacca), held by one rifleman, and collect 433 gold from Gandhi (17-0).

We raze Sidon, held by three riflemen and a cav unit (21-0). We capture two cannon.

We slay a rifleman in Pasargadae (22-0).

Outside cities we smite three Russian, one German, ten Mongol, three Persian, four Indian, and six Chinese units (49-0).

One Cossack and two Mongol cav die attacking our new cities around the furs (52-0). Apparently the AI civs don't have enough units left for a real bloodbath.

1735 (2): We raze Tyre, held by four riflemen and an Immortal (57-0). We capture a worker (apart from razing).

We raze Pasargadae, held by three riflemen and an Immortal (61-0).

We found Smokey Room to give us access to Hamadan.

We raze Hamadan, held by three riflemen (64-0). We capture a cannon.

We raze Sippar, held by five riflemen (69-0).

We raze Samaria, held by three riflemen (72-0). We capture a cannon.

We found Norman to gain access to Bactra.

We raze Bactra, held by three riflemen (75-0). We capture a cannon.

We found John and James to gain access to Antioch,

We take Antioch, held by two riflemen and a cav (78-0).

Outside cities we expunge two Mongol, three Persian, four Indian, and six Chinese units, losing a cav (93-1). We generate two Great Leaders/armies.

We found One Step Forward, Chase the Devil, and Pomp and Pride.

We carefully steal Steel from the Russians, for 4647 gold. The advanced civs have Combustion.

We fail to plant a spy in Mongolia.

1740 (3): We found Ride Natty Ride to gain access to Arbela.

We raze Arbela, held by two riflemen (95-1). We capture a cannon.

We found Wanted Man to gain access to Delhi and Gordium.

We take Delhi, held by seven riflemen (102-1). We capture Leonardo, Bach, the Hanging Gardens, and three cannon. We seize 685 gold.

We raze Madras, held by three riflemen (105-1). We seize 679 gold.

We raze Gordium, held by three riflemen, and capture a cannon (108-1). That's it for the Persian heartland, though they still have eight junk cities in the tundra.

We found Shanty Town to gain access to Bombay.

We raze Bombay, held by three riflemen, and seize 698 gold (111-1).

We found Draw Your Brakes to gain access to Lahore.

We raze Lahore, held by three riflemen, and seize 704 gold (114-1).

We found Many Rivers to Cross to gain access to Bengal.

We raze Bengal, held by three riflemen and a cav, and seize 711 gold (118-1).

I'd hoped to conquer India down to Ceylon this turn, but we're out of good attacks, so I turn to consolidating our position.

We found Give and Take in Europe.

Outside cities we strike down three Indian, two Persian, three Russian, seven Mongol, and nine Chinese units (142-1).

With Bach we're able to go to 10-0-0, 1252 gpt.

Well, four and a half days to play three turns , but I think I did some some useful things.

Twenty-nine elite victories this round produced two Great Leaders.

We should overrun the rest of Eurasia in fewer than ten turns, however much RL time it may require. Looking ahead a little, I don't think we'll need a large navy to extend our operations into the Americas. Some transports rushed and lumberjacked on our side of the Bering Strait, and then used strictly as ferries, should do it.

We're six cities over the army limit, and we have two settlers, so our next two Leaders can found armies immediately.

However, we need to keep an eye on Kahun, which will finish an army in two turns. I don't think I know what happens if an army completes when the player is at the limit.

I wouldn't rush to disband our sword armies. As long as the AI won't attack them, they're quite useful tactically.

We shouldn't hesitate to found tactical cities when they'll speed up our operations. The AI civs on our land mass are gassed (though the Mongols seem to be doing better than the rest), and it's not hard to hold front-line towns.

The work of mining irrigated tiles in Africa is essentially done, though there are doubtless isolated exceptions. In fact, we'll soon have a hard time finding useful worker actions, so I hope you gentlemen have a taste for lumberjacking. :D

Delhi is crammed with armies for the safe interturn. Of course we'll have to move them out next turn.

I'll repeat that we have Leonardo and plenty of money, though I haven't attempted any upgrades yet.

I've left a few units with their movement so that the next player will notice them.

A passage through India:

It looks like it was worth the wait NP. I will at least take a peek before I head off to work in 30 minutes.

All armies have value, we were only talking about disbanning, IF we did not have enough towns to found an army with an existing leader in hand.

I have had an army build when I hit the limit, but I forget what ahppened. I think it switched the build. Not certain though.

:goodjob: NP, even though only 3 turns, you made a huge progress. We even have enough money for a safe steal for combustion now.

Taking out India will prvide huge amounts of money. However, if the AI doesn't have any other tech for us, I suggest to self research flight as soon as possible. Bombers will help us a lot , especially once we face infantry.

I have had an army build when I hit the limit, but I forget what ahppened. I think it switched the build. Not certain though.
yes, it will definitely switch production, not worth it.

I was planning on going to self research as they have only combustion that we lack.

Great turn. I felt the AI was close to the end of its strength on my turn. I see that it was true.

I too would steal combustion as top priority so we can start buiding transports. The money from India allows us to steal it quckly which is great as we haven't seen destroyers (and probably won't after we destroy the Asian civs). Agree we don't need a big fleet in that case - just transports, though a protecting Destroyer in case a civ does build one seems prudent. It will be nice to end the Bombardment.

After stealing combustion I too would switch to self research on flight. Airlifting units will be very strong.

Not sure the game will last long enough to see tanks. I don't think the other continent will be able to resist us for long.

Hum I had posted while I was a work that I almost finished 2 turns. Only took 930 to midnight and 5 to 830.

I have had a couple of F3 crashes, but nothing lost. I was just scrolling down the list of units for India and poof no more C3C? I have seen this before, not recently.

Ok, I am very confused now. I tried to raze Hydeabad and the game stops responding. I tried to reboot the pc, but it still hangs. I tried to just capture the place and it still hangs.

I don't know what I should do next. The thing is I had a terrible cold and feel like crap. So I may not be thinking clearly, but the F3 issues and now this, it is making me wonder if we have a corrupted game.

I have a few options:

1) ignore the city for this turn. I have seen this in Moo2. Some times you can get around it, other times the planet cannot be used.

2) post the save or saves and see if anyone else can get past the problem

3) we could back up to the save that was posted by M60. I sure would hate to have to do all that again in the shape I am in right now.

I am going to post the save before I attacked the city in case someone wants to take a shot.
