Grab the Game, Ghandi! -open succession game-

Cultural Lee comes back. He is VERY disappointed that a Leader was squandered for a dead army. We shall win this game with 100000 culture he proclaims.
He reviews what there is before moving.

PEACE with France. We extort Toulouse, 34 Gold, 5/turn, and World map.
Massive map trade. Germany gives up $7/turn

Genericgrad is switched to Calvary. Cancel Bapedi calvary, and build Barracks. I hate regular troops. Freddy Blakia to Musketman, disbanding the regular Musketman. Disband regular musketman in Bapedi, and start building a veteran one.

Switch Paris to University, allowing Delhi to build Heroic epic, though probably to late. We had a very good shot at a 20000 point culture city, but the leader loss, and non wonders probably cost us that.

1455 AD. Swazi captured and renamed to Wineville. More cultural buildings rushed.

1460 AD. Nothing much except a couple of Cultural buildings rushed.

1465 AD. Lost a calvary, killed a knigth. Cash keeps disappearing into culture buildings. I just realized - Why are we still in Monarchy. Revolution - We want democracy.

1470 AD. Hlobane falls, I think we lost 2 calvary. Zululand still refuses our envoy.
Guess what theme continues? $23 a turn for the recently aquired Zulu wines from America, plus $4/turn for World map. I love looking at trades, and Aztecs need Iron, Salt Peter and Horses. We make enough from trading to rush another Cathedral.
We are the Glorious Indians for the Most Advanced nations in the World :)

1475 AD. France is a non-player. I offered Horses and Iron, and the offer nothing! Tugela falls. Not quite ready for peace, but Zululand will talk now. Delhi switches to Shakespeare Thearte.

1480 AD. Mpondo and Ngome fall. Peace in our time:) . Europe is free off the Zulu. We get $103 & $15/turn for Peace. Citizens around the empire celebrate. We have 2 more Saltpeter sources, they just need a road.

1485 AD. Persia in troube? Rome and Zululand form an alliance against them.

1490 AD. Rush build Harbor in Wineville. I want access to that Wine and Saltpeter.

1495 AD. Rush build Temple in Mpondo, to get that wine source within our borders.

1505 AD - More rushed built temples, Pushed science rate through the roof. Steam power on the way.

1510 AD - A wine come into our borders - 8 gold a turn from Persia for them. Fur to Aztecs for $7, and Physics! to Aztecs for $27 a turn

1515 AD - I catch more Automated idiot workers  Greece also joins the beat up Persia war.

1520 AD - I complete the road to the furs near Mumford - The only potential buyers are broke. Our bizzare looking palace is expanded.

1525 AD - Steam power researched - We have 2 coal sources.

1535 AD - Brutesia is building the Iron Works!

1545 AD - Massive competion showing up for Smiths Trading Company.

1550 AD - Well, next time I play, I am cancelling ALL worker orders if I see even a single automated worker. This is frelling asburd.

Summary - Our cities WAY too over Irragted. I wasted a lot of worker time getting the cites more mines. A good percent of my worker time was wasted reversing previous builds.

Someone set the idiotic automated workers. I just watched units move. They really SUCK, and produce terrible upgrades.

We need to build more Musketman! A lot of our calvary is tied up defending cities, and we only have ONE lousy defender in most cities.

Get ready to trade! Wineville wine on line in a few turns. Mpondo wine on line in a few turns.

Wall street is getting close. Keep cash ABOVE $1000.

Last time for 20 turns. Just taking to long.

Next couple of rounds will be very interesting. Lots of wonders are close.

EDIT: Out of date attachment deleted.

I played only couple turns because my computer sucks. We got Adam's Trade Company and Shakespeare Theatre but Persians got Magellans Voyage. I changed Universal Suffrage there were we were making Magellans Voyage. We produced Heroic Epic and Military Academy.

We got Industrilization and started to produce Medicine after that so that we could get Sanitation and with that hospitals to get more population. I started to build factories to several place. Roman northern city Corona or something joined to us because of our culture.

I always automate my workers, especially when waging wars. I could really care less about micromanaging 30+ workers, unless there's a specific object, like an important road connection or wonder project.

I feel that while what they do might be pretty irritating at times (especially changing existing mines to irrigation, when a city is building a wonder), they do free up time for more important (and fun) things, and in the end I find all my cities are growing in a healthy pace, never threatened by starvation or serious riots. And they are great for automatically rebuilding stuff after a devastating war. So all in all, the automated workers are a great benefit, IMO. You can always cancel their orders if necessary, and pile them for specific projects; and turn off watching them move. That last thing is huge with the patch. :)

Oh well, I can't fight on you this one with the Automated workers.

I have played my last turn with this game. I have lost to many wonders by one turn, and our production output has gone DOWN is several key cities. Sorry, but I disagree with you big time on the workers. Automated workers for me make the game UNENJOYABLE. Plus, when rails are discovered I prefer to concentrate on very carefully rail line plans to conect cities asap.

Ikendter, I think you are missing the point in a succession game. IMO, it is pretty unimportant if we lose out on one wonder or the other, or if we win one way or another. The fun thing is accomodating and picking up on other players' playing styles, so that the game becomes something it wouldn't be, if we were just playing a single player game. The fun thing for me is the "natural" history and diverse 'geopolitical landscape' created by so many different people playing the same game. I think it is pretty fun to find units placed, wars started, deals made, techs chosen etc that I would NEVER have done myself; thats the inspiring part to me. :D

I won't agrue with you there at all. That is the main reason I started 5 succession games, and have played in a couple of others.

However, I am very big on city Micromangement, wonder building, etc. Part of my game challenge is to maximize the wonders, culture, etc. I have seeing cities at size 12 with 8 excess food. This happens a lot with automated workers. I play at regent, and this become much more critical there.

I don't want to waste to much thread space on this, so I don't plan any more replies.

Good Luck.

Ikendter, no need to argue. :) Thanx for playing! It's been fun. :D

I must admit the game is beginning to lag now, so if players have just an average perfomance computer, turns take a looong time. Almost too long with this huge map. If you want to join in, be aware of this!

On the other hand, there's lots of opportunities with so many civs playing. We haven't won just yet. (although things seems to be going in that direction; no surprise, since this is only warlord level) However we did suffer some tremendous setbacks in the beginning, but the other civs must have had similar problems.

Newbie, looking forward to your report! :)

What can be done to get this game going?
Either we start to use e-mail to transfer savegames, or we'll have to split the zip files and post it in two posts. I don't know how or if that last option works, but I believe it can be done with arj files. Does anybody know how this partition thing works or have any other idea?

Can you not just specify to have the save zipped into two files and upload them in seperate posts? It might mean more hassle in downloading them, but it'll keep everything in this forum so that everyone's got easy access to it.

Bear.
