[Graphic Mod] Varietas Delectat v9.2 [civ specific unit sets]

So is the new version with Russian architecture available for download yet?

v4.0 includes Ethnic Citystyles v1.03, which I believe has the Russian architecture you're asking for.

I had trouble packing the blue marble art. In the end I chose not to compress any of it and got it to work finally.

Yeah, I believe it's unpackable - in a sense it won't work if packed.

Same thing with the BIK movie files... if you add-on extra movies they don't like being FPK'd either.

I dled 4.0, and it doesn't seem to have the Russian architecture Geomodder made. Rather, playing as Russia caused my cities to be made of a kooky mix of other art styles, some of which made little sense, like Meso-America. What is wrong?

You get a kooky mix of units if a name is wrong. Either "Russian" isn't classified in his GlobalTypes.xml for a cityset, or he didn't tie it properly in the CivilizationInfos.xml... that's my guess... you get a weird mix of types if something isn't clearly tagged.

Check to see if this line is in with the other citytypes in GlobalTypes.xml:
<ArtStyleType>ARTSTYLE_RUSSIA</ArtStyleType>

Where in the directory would that be located? Sorry to nag.

The Assets/XML folder... look for "GlobalTypes.xml"... it's a small file... shouldn't be hard to find other other citystyles in there... just make sure to add the Russian line in that group if it's not already there... (if it is already there, then the problem is something else).

I did a quick check today and it seems that the russian set is there, at least the walls, etc. were russian from the Medieval times.
Can someone else confirm if the sets are corrupt?
I had troubles packing the stuff and I'm unsure if it's really ok now.
Thanks.

There's a problem with your file Balderstrom: when at full health melee units only show 1 man correctly while the other 2 are the normal ones. When injured only the normal ones show up.

Hi, Avain
Sorry if I'm boring you:
I have a similar problem to the onedreamer's: some units appear "normal" if they are not selected; when I select them they switch to the proper "ethnical" skin.
I have this problem with VD 4.0, No problem with the previous version. Look at this image:

Actually i encountered the same problem as Bahmo with russian cities. It seems that "GlobalTypes.xml" file is missing in VD 4.0. So i used file from VD 3.6 with adding <ArtStyleType>ARTSTYLE_RUSSIA</ArtStyleType>. And it began to work.
But still. Could someone upload original globaltypes.xml for VD 4.0?

I actually also had problems with the citysets. For some reason the textures seem screwed up with some civilizations, while they're ok with other civs. The Asian and European civs seem to have the correct textures, but any civ with its own cityset has a mixture of buildings from other sets with their own textures (asian buildings with mesoamerican textures for instance)..

I'll see if I can make a few screenshots tonight..

Auuuch.
I made a mistake, as I removed the "GlobalTypes.xml" to MEE install package, but it should have remained in the core VD. Sorry.
I'll correct the download soon,
but until that you can either use the GlobalTypes.xml from the MEE,
or simply download and extract in BtS/Mods folder the following:
http://files.filefront.com/GlobalTypes7z/;11174441;/fileinfo.html

Sorry again.

I knew it was a GlobalTypes.xml problem without even looking! By the description of the problem, any city set NOT defined in that XML file will get a jumble of different buildings, which is why Russia (a new city set) looked all goofy, while Germany for instance (using a European set) would look normal, since European citystyles are defined in default Civ4.

Anyways, glad you fixed it! Now I just have to figure-out where I went wrong with flanking attacks... I missed an XML change between v3.13 and v3.17 apparently... all my flanking attacks are broken in the Wolf mod!

Yeah, with a more complex mod it's quite painful - to adapt to a new patch. What I did is compare all files line by line and review what and where is needed.
Can be time consuming...;)
