Sad. Great title, but sad situation.

It was already silly when people were using this title for the US president, but this is utterly ridiculous. She's already way in over her head with Europe.

Fwiw, i do agree that if a text can be shortened and mean "the same", it indeed was not well writen. But the quote again states that in a hyperbolic manner- "no book [...] survives" is a bit dramatic.
Such quotes can be better written, and still they evidently do survive :jesus:

But conclusions are important. They make some books and undo others.

I doubt I'd reread a dull or plodding book even if the ending were spectacular.

Sounds more like this guy is just sad other journalists get far royalty checks from their published books while he just gets letters saying things like "Please stop sending us your attempts at manuscripts".
