It is at this price that you inject collagen in Europe.
"See, all that collagen for lip and wrinkle treatments has to come from somewhere, and it turns out that for some vain Europeans, said somewhere is the ass cheek of a Chinese guy who ran the wrong type of blog."
-K.R. Kelleher, 5 Hilariously Illegal Ways Governments Solved Huge Problems

"Truth shines with its own light, and the minds of men will not be enlightened by the flames around the stake"
-attributed to Emperor Justinian I by Voltaire, Ch. 11, L'Ingénu

Written in 2013, adjust the number of years accordingly.
"If you remember nothing else about the superiority of democracies to other forms of government, remember the fact that in three years, [the US] will have a change of leadership and almost no one is stocking up on canned goods to prepare for the inevitable civil war."
-Scott Alexander, "2.5.1: And democracies are more stable?", The Anti-Reactionary FAQ

One of the few things that can deform the supertensile filaments that are my heartstrings. Cannot verify the source, sorry to say.

From a thread on sterotyping and anti-Asian racism:

Or maybe they should be taught to judge people on things they actually do rather than generalities. If a stranger is walking towards you with a knife in the middle of the night, does it matter whether he's black or a well dressed white gentleman, wouldn't you still run?

That's a stereotype. He could be selling knives.

Either way you should still run.

Good Lord.
"The end result resembled Guy Fieri if he was hit with some sort of science fiction devolution ray and assumed the biological form of a sea cucumber."
-on a piece of the Sandwich Loaf, Evan V. Symon, 7 More Disgusting Foods Your Grandparents Ate (Taste-Tested)

"You can see why Che ducked out right after the revolution. It's a lot easier to blow up the trains than to make them run on time."
— World War Z

The lyrics of Hackman's Forgotten Notes, apparently.
"All the things you mean to me
I'm so amazed that you can last forever
If we can work together

WHEAGABAERRRRR WAGADOOBIE
YO ONAT ONAMEEE
WEE~ INIT FROMAGE HEAVY
WEE~ INIT FROMAGE AVENUE HEVAAAAAA"
-That One Guy from the Old Spice Commercial Who's Always Moving From Scene to Scene, comment on Hackman - Forgotten Notes

"n the interpretation of all social life, there is a persistent and never-ending competition between what is right and what is merely acceptable. In this competition, while a strategic advantage lies with what exists, all tactical advantage is with the acceptable. Audiences of all kinds most applaud what they like the best. And in social comment, the test of audience approval, far more than the test of truth comes to influence comment. The speaker or writer who addresses his audience with the proclaimed intent of telling the hard, shocking facts invariably goes on to expound what the audience wants to hear."

—John Kenneth Galbraith, The Affluent Society, 1958

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.” Joseph Goebbels

You can see this happening in our society where truth has so often been trampled on and the state is the biggest offender.

Yup. Australia is literally Nazi Germany. And moving steadily even further to the right.

I know. Just think about the hundreds of millions of people who are actively complicit in the lie of evolution!

What's your mechanism for knowing you're falling victim to that? I have a few but I'm always at least a little open to the idea that any of my beliefs are compromised.

Is the above quote meant for another thread?

(I also assume it's about post-Charlemagne CKII, because Abbasids are a joke in 867.)

“At Northstar, we’ve always believed that employees who contribute the same level of hard work for the same duties should earn the same meager fraction of a reasonable wage, regardless of whether they’re men or women,”
-CEO Jack Stargell, "Progressive Company Pays Both Men And Women 78% Of What They Should Be Earning", The Onion

"Abroad the Poles are cutting one another’s Throats a little, about their Election: But ’tis their Constitution, and I suppose reckon’d among their Privileges to sacrifice a few Thousand of the Subjects every Interregnum, either to the Manes of the deceas’d King, or to the Honour of his Successor. And if they are fond of this Privilege, I don’t know that their Neighbours have any right to disturb them in the Enjoyment of it."

- Benjamin Franklin , 1759.

I lol'd.
