[GS] Guess The Civs Geographical Features

It'd be cool if different leaders of the same civ got different starting geography when applicable, i.e. Gorgo getting Mt Taygetos and the Eurotas River.

And if we really want to stir up the pot, we could give Greece the Troodos mountain range which is in Cyprus
The Ottomans and, if they're really in the game, the Phoenicians might have something to say about that. :p

Not really the Phoenicians, but Ottomans, Rome, France, England, Egypt, Arabia, Assyria, Persia and Venice all count in that sense.

The Phoenicians did have colonies on Cyprus. I remain skeptical that we'll have Phoenicia rather than Carthage (and why must it be Dido again?!). :(

A couple of them and not close to the mountainous interior, though.

I guess someone at Firaxis really likes Cato. Either that or they decided they could replace one with the other and they might as well mix it up this time.

Cree

Rivers:

North Saskatchewan River
South Saskatchewan River
Saskatchewan River
Churchill River

Mountain Range:
Cypress Hills
Beaver Hills
Porcupine Hills
Touchwood Hills

Volcanoes:
None

Deserts:
Athabasca Sand Dunes
Great Sandhills

National Park:
Prince Albert National Park

If Canada is in the game, I'd like for them to be distinct from the Cree so here are some of the names that you mentioned but in the Cree language.
Rivers:
Kisikaciwani-sipiy (Saskatchewan)
Missinipi (Churchill River)
I couldn't find a Cree name for the branches but I found these:
Was-ka-soo River (Elk River)
Amiskwasipi (Beaver River)

Mountain Range:
Manatakaw (Cypress Hills)
Amiskwaciy (Beaver Hills)
Kakwa Wachisak (Porcupine Hills)
Pasakanaciwiyiniwak (Touchwood Hills) That is the name of the Touchwood Hills Cree, but may be the name of the actual mountain range as well.

Since we have little information on leaders from Phoenicia, Dido would make the most since to get them in the game, and I'm not complaining. I would rather have Hannibal if we got Carthage over her, but I'll take her with Phoenicia. Besides I think there is a 99% chance that Carthage will be on the city list of Phoenicia anyway.

If they were going with Phoenicia, I'd have chosen Hiram I of Tyre. True, we know almost nothing about him--but "almost nothing" is considerably more than we know about Dido. For example, we know Hiram I existed. :p But I would have chosen Carthage for three reasons: it had an actual empire, it was mostly unified, and it has better leader choices that don't require resorting to mythical queens from Graeco-Roman legends (on which note, it's Gilgamesh the Babylonian Epic Hero all over again). Wonder if they'll make Dido's capital Tyre or Carthage?

What I really love about this thread is that I am learning a lot about geography and I love geography

To update my predictions/suggestions for Norway, I have looked into Norwegian sources and found names of places in Norway that are remains of volcanoes, which could work as volcano names, despite the fact that I am more or less certain that Firaxis will use Icelandic volcanoes instead. They are as follows:

Ullernåsen
Brandbukampen
Tofteholmen (maybe changed to Toftekampen or Toftetoppen, since "holm" refers to a relatively small bedrock island, and as such its name would probably be different if the island was still a volcano today)

In addition to these I found out about two calderas, the Bærum caldera and the Drammen caldera, but I am unsure how you'd name volcanoes after them. Maybe just simply "Bærumsfjell" and "Drammensfjell"?

Dido can lead Phoenicia and have the city she founded and ruled as capital which is Carthage. At least if you believe in Legends...

They do usually go for something core to the leader

If that were the case then they should just let it stay as being called Carthage since apparently she was queen of Tyre first, but that might just be me.

I'm bumping this thread up, just in case we spot new feature names in the Canada livestream.
