Guess the Map IV: A Thousand Cries for "Hint Please!"

Explanation: It's linked to History, so for example Italy is Rome. two nations share colors and that means they are linked in a way you should find out, if a nation has two colors it means it is linked to both nations with those colors.

Sigh, History is more than political or military history ;) -and making a historical map with modern state borders seems strange. Might have been better to use dots or blurry orbs? Or make it a list ;-) but I don't want to just complain

Seriously though, what is up with Germany? I don't see another black or pink country?

Rome-Carthage: "Longest War", "Peace Treaty" 2000 years later, "Arch-enemies"
England-Netherlands: Glorious Revolution
Netherlands-Taiwan: ?
Japan-Montenegro: The only thing that comes to mind for Montenegro is Casinos and Bond...
Scotland-Russia: I guess Northern Ireland isn't really meant here?
North-South Korea: Again a War?

So my guess is "Wars declared and no peace treaty signed for a long time". Isn't there a island in the Channell that was some 50 years longer at war with Germany because they were listed up in the declaration of war in 1914 but not in the one of peace 4 years later?

Must be this.

Japan and Montenegro were technically at war from 1904 till 2006.

I would have not guessed that in a Hundred Years War.

Was Taiwan and the Netherlands ever at war with each other?

From the link I provided:

The Dutch Republic ruled Taiwan and declared war on the Taiwanese aborigines after the establishment of the Governor of Formosa in 1624. The Taromak people started conflicts with the Dutch and the Dutch government officially named the Taromak as an enemy in the year 1651. After Koxinga defeated the Dutch in 1662, no peace was made until Menno Goedhart, Dutch representative in Taiwan, went to Taromak for a visit of friendship and ceremonially ended the conflict in 2010.

Anything to do with unions?

Oh, that's bad, didn't intend to end it so early. I actually just more or less stabbed in the dark (if he hadn't said Italy = Rome I would not have guessed it). Interesting list though! btw. Germany Pink is Costa Rica and Black is Andorra.

Can I post my map or do I need to wait for confirmation by Nedim? (I need to produce it first anyways...)

If I were you I'd start working on that map of yours, you're going to be next as soon as Nedim gives the green light :p

EDIT: CROSSPOST!

Out of interest, where was the other black country in the prior map?

Should not be too difficult, thus I guess I need the exact categories. Blue and Purple and Dark and Light Green are similar.

City population probably. Too lazy to look up the precise categories but Athens is around 5 mil (the entire city & Peireus)
There's no Paris or Rome.
