Near Thessaloniki. What do yuo mean by that? So Frederich II was sicilian because he was buried in Palermo?

Again you are showing your level of intellectual ability by jumping into conclusions. No I am not saying that EVERY person who is burried in a country HAS to be citizen of that country. All I'm saying is that if a person has a Greek name, calls himself Greek, speaks Greek language as native language, worships Greek Gods, is historically known to have lived in what we call in general Greece, teaches his son Greek education and his tomb found in Greece, then what the heck is he???If you still think he aint Greek, ok I cant help you :)

However I'm glad you at least admitted that a non Greek king according to you should be the king of Greeks...is this contradictory or what ? :) Even so , I'm ok with that

Same for the United Kingdom of England, Scottland, Ireland, and whatever it may include - again forgive and correct my ignorrance on British history-

They are independent Saxonic kingdoms which speak the same language, worship the same god, share the same popular culture, and often compete and confront each other, yet later on they unite to what is modern U.K.

Good grief. Consider it corrected - 'Saxonic' for a start, yeech. I'd let mild ignorance pass, but... Same language? Same religion? Same culture? Basically, you have just about everything wrong here.

Howitzer, Frederich, if you don't know, loved italian culture, spoke in latin and sicilian dialect, called himself king of Italy and Sicily...And was born in Jesi, Marche, Italy... Is he Italian?

Now lol on this..

It's the same as Alexander, he ruled a foreign country, but he was in love with the country and though of himself as part of it and his culture... But his lineage was different.

And as a not english, the statement quoted by Phibes horrified myself as well....

If he called himself that :) Then his background supports it :)

Oh really what foreign country did Alexander rule?

Well I never claimed to know of English history it was an example, failing it seems :)

However I must do note that you are not here now to discuss whether Alexander should be the leader of Greeks in Civilization as you already cleared that, what are you here exactly to prove and why don't you get that by your attitude you are insulting people?

Insulting people? Stating that Macedonians were different people by greeks tribes?

As i stated form the start, i not argued about the role of Alexander as suitable leader for ancient greek culture, because i eve remember that he was educated by Aristotle to promote this thesis... But i disagree totally on the fact that he was greek by lineage or that macedonians were greek... It's debatable until proved otherwise, claiming that a FACT is the same as stating that scottisches are english....

The greek tribes were Acheans, Eolians, Ionics and Dorics, although they were a little different branch... The others share something with them but the kinship is not so close as you and others stated...

Frederich was from Hohenstaufen family from Swabia, his grandfather was Frederick I Barbarossa, and her mother was a Northman... They called him puer Apuliae (it means son of Puglia, an italian district)...

If you can see, there are a lot of similarities... But no one can call him italian (speaking of lineage) for sure....

This thread has degenerated beyond hope of rescue.

First, we have a History forum for discussing historical matters. If you really wish to argue about the nationality of ancient cultures, you will find plenty of such arguments there, which you are welcome to join in with.

Second, whatever topic you're discussing, please do it civilly. That means not insulting each other, calling each other trolls, actually being trolls, or anything of the kind. Please see the rules for more.
