Han Jae-Moon

Could be mistake on Korean press too, since the Doctor's name is Park Jae Moon... where Park is 3rd common-est(? I don't know proper word for this :( ) family name in Korea.

The word is "most common" - "Han" is also pretty common (11th) and I heard in sometimes so I assume it was, turn out Moon is 25th most common

I found Moon Han-Jae in Korean screenshot and likely stay there in release unless significant Korean fanbase think/realize Firaxis have no idea how Korean naming works.

Doctor name can be Moon Park-Jae. People with same surname without being relative is pretty common to the point people with Kim surname probably reached 10 millions. But I think it is more likely Firaxis making mistake in the articles.

For some reason I thought '3rd most common' is wrong grammar lol, thx.

But mind you, I'm Korean. They did poor job with localization in vanilla BE (e. g. the Armor unit was translated as 갑옷 which means 'Body Armor') so I think it could be mistake on localization.

Naming convention issues aside, I actually quite like this sponsor, if but for RP reasons than nothing else. The leader that should not have been the leader is a very interesting concept

I agree. I have a feeling this guy is going to be one of those "fun to play against" sponsors, like Montezuma or Shaka.

I hope this guy will be crazy aggressive as well. Like when you're spawning next to Monty or Attila in Civ and you clench your butt cheeks in anticipation for the only thing that will come from that.

Oh, so did they make mistakes there too? *facepalm*

Well, If Korean localisation ans screenshot show to Korean is unreliable then nothing do. I give up, Han Jae-Moon.

Pretty much.

Those ships belong next to buildings like this.

And yes, I will keep posting this until it becomes reality.

Where are the screens from?

It's from Grey Goo, an RTS.

The intro article is great! It makes this leader an interesting mistery and a terrible foe... let's see how it transfer in game.

Beyond the leader, that is quite well profile. I am very, very intrigued about what is Chungsu... and I think we have not yet news on that?. How it was formed? Who does it represent? WHAT is the symbol they are using? (Seems a cross-breed between the ying-yang and a Pac-Man with jaws :dunno: ). Whe only know it is secretive, and has a deep underwater base that seems called after a misspelled revered korean sitting/meditating budha. Anything more?

Some wild (or not so wild) guesses

  • A project from korean (& japanese?) government, that expanded underwater in fear of what could happen to its territories if PAC goot lose (or already got strongly hit, explaining the fact the project is built to be perfect "at all cost" because is their only opportunity to survival)
  • A "religious/philosophic/cultural fanatic" korean organization working outside the scope of the government to ensure a rebirth of their culture, funded by korean migrants all over the globe.
  • An actual criminal/mastermind organization who wants to ensure survival in space?
  • The actual seeding project of the PAC, built on not-so-friendly terms to other cultures as it seems to be the standard for other seeding efforts, masked as a private initiative. (¿Remember how Sochua had to fight to convince PAC of funding a seeding project? ¿Maybe it was because they had already one? - in that case, PAC have been quite unfortunate with the seedings: with their "official" process led by a critical as Daoming, their "true" project Hijacked by Han, and some of their resources deviated by means of untrustful agreements to fund Barre's :cringe: )
  • Same as above, but for Polystralia?

First things first, I just wanna say....

CALLED IT! Korean leader over an pan Korean/Japanese coalition (in this case, probably pseudo-company). And yes, I'm almost certain japan is included under the sway of whatever Chungsu actually is. It would be a weird and arbitrary distinction if they weren't (granted, we'll know for sure when the city lists come out).

Assuming that the naming convention got mixed up, and his actual name is (Western Standard) Han-Jae Moon (Han-Jae is a really weird-sounding korean name though, at least to my ears. Then again, google does say its a real korean name, so what do I know?) and the Doctor is named (Western Standard) Park-Jae Moon (Side Note: why is every syllable in both these names common Korean last names? really confusing), this really lends credence to the idea they are both related. Moon is not exactly the most common last name in South Korea.

However, I'm wondering where everyone is getting the idea that Han-Jae kills Park-Jae? In the blurb it seems like Han-Jae is just exiling Park-Jae. The reason I'm skeptical is because if Park-Jae is Han-Jae's father (or much more likely, based on the shared 'Jae' syllable, older brother) then actually harming, much less killing him becomes harder to stomach. Going against one's father is bad enough, but from what I understand harming one's family for any reason in Japan or Korea is on the level of child molestation or serial murder. And murdering one, especially one's parent, is unthinkably evil.... I highly doubt they wanted to set a leader up as irredeemably evil by the very culture he's supposed to represent.

It would be like if Suzanne was the American leader, but she was also a Communist British King who kicks puppies and hates hotdogs. Except... you know.... more insulting and not hilarious.

However, if Han-Jae only banished his older brother instead of killing, even when that brother was a credible threat to his goals and showed he was willing to kill Han-Jae, while that may be distasteful it also shows just how ambitious and cut-throat he's willing to be to accomplish his goals.

P.S. Someone should mod in a version of Suzanne that is British, a king, and kicks puppies while declaring how much she hates hotdogs.

@ MatThePhat - given the underhanded themes throughout the report and the fact that murder was already referred to euphemistically (recommending humane 'neutralization' of Han-Jae Moon), it's safe to assume that exile to the surface is not a good thing, especially when combined with the references to Park-Jae's health.

As for whether they're related, again, possible given the names, but as the names are common it's by no means certain, and the same argument about killing family being taboo means that Park-Jae Moon's willingness to terminate Han-Jae probably indicates they aren't family.

I'm fairly certain the "humane neutralization" is not killing. They seem to refer to it as though it is temporary. So unless someone has come up with a way to undo death, I doubt it's killing.

As to whether Han Jae Moon murdered the doctor, I could believe it. It's quite possible he killed some of the other candidates, so I'm unsure whether he would flinch at killing someone else. Family or not.

But that doesn't mean he did. I'm betting on them leaving it open to interpretation.

There's literally nothing to suggest this is the case.

It's more likely Japan went extinct due to its circling-the-toilet population growth.

So, in the end we have Samsung (Chungsu) vs Apple (ARC)

I hope you realize I am now going to make a point of renaming the capitals to that if I'm ever playing in a game as one where the other appears, perhaps going half of the map out of my way to conquer the enemy capital to do so if i need to :D

Hmm, good point. The Japanese have disappeared, and the Japanese islands are now simply "East Seoul". The world of the future is as strange as it is terrifying [emoji27]

I would've said LG even though I use a Note 4.

Anyway since this is suddenly becoming about mobile devices, in the interest of steering back on topic I think it's good Japan isn't part of Chungsu.

That makes it more likely it will be introduced as DLC or in a future expansion as a cyborg anime girl.

You guys liked Ghost in the Shell right?
