Hand Drawn Graphics

Ok, So I've just finished the 'marshlands & swamps' and was testing the versions out, what do you think?? Is this enough or does it need more??

Excellent! I'd love to get my hands on this.

It's looking fantastic. I've just got one question though. Civ Conquests has new terrain types. Will you be hand drawing those terrains as well (as you've already done a marsh terrain)? If not, it's great anyways, but I was just wondering.:)

Yeah a normal marsh terrain (not floodplain replacement) would be cool, even before C3C, since some people use swamps instead of jungles :)

Yeah I was originally trying to get these done for C3C, but real life & hassles ....

Um sure, I'll finish these up now, and get them on here, Then a few tweaks, and release the Colourised (hand coloured with 45yr old pencils no less...) version. and when I buy conquests, and see what they have to offer I'll do it again for that too.

I haven't been up on the news for conquests, but what is there, swamps, volcano's and>???

Oh BTW, heres a screen shot Ingame

Swamps, volcanoes, craters, a few new resources, and "Landmark Terrain".

I was thinking of colorizing your terrain, but I'd rather see how yours turns out first.

I hope you finish this soon, I wanna have a shot on these graphics

computerdude, it's on your Civ3 CD, or even on your hdd :) The file name is "resource.pcx" (wihout 's') in Art folder, sort of sheet of resources/icons never used in actual game, plenty of them.

actually while you will find the originals in the resource.pcx, I have painstakingly edited these, since they're a tad to big, also added varieties of them, and other graphics...

I've been working on a Total conversion, using graphics that I've made myself, or have found in other games that save me days of work...but I'm going to stick to completing the Hand-drawn first, then the colorized version, Then finish off the TC.. Then after all that, the Fantasy Mod version that I started way back a year and a bit ago....

Oh for the fun of it, I made a 'warcraft 3' version, I would let you guys have a look, but I know I'm going to get in trouble for copying all the 3d models, music, graphics, screen shots etc etc

If you have done the basic terrain, could you release a beta version? I would like to show it to some of my rpg friends;)

Wow... I never found those either. Turns out there are a couple
of files in there that don't seem to be used at all. ie. the 'Curser'
file - which has a solid team colour disc (any idea how to access
this??) and a house with a road in the foreground - looks like
a 'Build City' curser.

Pity these aren't put to use, but cheers to Bane for trying
something new! :goodjob:

Banestar; I should think that you wouldnt have trouble getting permission to create a Warcraft 3 mod for Civ 3...Im sure if you email Blizzard; they wouldnt mind at all. I mean for you to create one you had to have bought their game and liked it...its a compliment to them really. :)

"In the interests of legal reasons everything I am saying now is purely fictional and anything co-incedental to anything in real life is purely cicumstantial and heresay."- just in case.

Actually you'll find the opposite is closer to the truth, They even condone the use of anything that isn't strictly Blizzard for the use of creating your own Warcraft 3 maps & scenarios'

My Brother found a site that was being sued by blizzrd becuase they created and hosted tools to edit Warcraft tga files & 3d models, not to say we didn't get those programs first before the site was shut down.. lol...

imaging Gramphos being sued by creating his muti-tool or anyone else for creating any tool that allows modification, thats what blizzrd are doing essentially, So in the interests of 'saving my ass' I'm not going to post anything anywhere anyhow.. and until I have confirmation from them that its ok, in writing and not email..

p.s. yes I have emailed them and was told 'NO' in no uncertain terms.

I know, I've been making similar things with those or other grahipcs, though never thought of apples as primary diet :D

What's the ETA on terrain? :)

It's a shame Bane was right about Blizzard  I have looked into compiling mods in other games using graphics and such from them and they are quite adament about using their stuff. In short they are less friendly than most gaming corporates and their games limited playability is the result. I think I loved WarCraft III for about a week before I beat it and got frustrated with their lousy online "Battlenet" to ever buy another Blizzard game again. A shame, since I did enjoy most of their stuff from before. Greed is sometimes to much for some. I won't trust World of Warcraft and never played Ghost. Never will. Sorry thats off topic. Just a soar spot from my former favorite gaming company.

BTW: This terrain looks awesome. I would love to try it out.:goodjob:
