My handwriting is horrible...and I'm proud of it

...it makes me look smart :mischief:...or so mommy says

i'm *this* old: i got taught to write with pen and ink (complete with ink blotter!) when i was at school. my hand writing deteriorated a lot when i went to uni and had to 'speed write' some lectures. it's still ok though. :)

If I take my time, it's alright. I rarely take the time to make my handwriting look pretty. The words, sentances, paragraphs ect are what count -- as so long as the reader can read them :)

Mine's half decent, though not particularly great.

I had a friend in school who's handwriting was utterly terrible - I was one of the few who could actually read it. For exams he had to take his paper out afterwards to be properly translated with a teacher, just so it was legible for grading.

I think that all work and no play makes Jack Nicholson a dull boy, and Shelly Duvall should get Danny out of there right away without even waiting for Scatman Crothers.

My handwritings ok I guess.

Mine is apparently horrible. Basically, it's like this - if I write something keeping readability in mind (that is, writing something others have to read), others can read my handwriting, although with some difficulty. If I write normally, notes to self, and such, my handwriting is mostly not intelligible except for a few people who know it very well and have gotten used to it.

I certainly prefer typing because, even though I write fast, I can type even faster. I always have the problem that I can neither type nor write as fast as I think, particularly when writing/typing about something interesting. Hence I prefer typing, because it's still faster.

For the record, I find so-called "neat" handwriting somewhat hard to read. I can easily read the handwriting of most people who are, like me, considered to have terrible handwriting. However, neat handwriting, particularly what's called the "girly" type can cause me some problems.

I've also managed to change one letter in my handwriting, didn't think I could do it easily. It's the letter s - I used to write it not quite similarly to s, it would often confuse even me, and always confuse others. Then I made a point of remembering to write s differently for some time, and it became natural a couple of months later - for the first month or so, though, my handwriting looked funny with both variations of s in it.

How good is your handwriting?
Moderate. Generaly legible, but sometimes confusing to others.
Do you wish to improve it?
Only if it would not take a significant amount of time out of my day,
How does you handwriting affect your life?
Writing notes has certainly aided my education. and day-to-day activities.
Has anyone ever complimented you on your handwriting?
No. Most comments about my writing are about the words, rather than the letters.
Do you write in print or cursive?
It varries, sometimes in mid-sentance.
Do you enjoy writing with your hand?
More than writing with my foot.
Given the choice between typing or writing, which do you choose?
Writing for putting down disorganized, partly-formed ideas. Typing for more coherant discourse.
How does your handwriting compare to that of your relatives?
Not sure. I don't see much of my relative's handwriting outside of signatures.
Do you ever feel that your school work is discriminated against because of your handwriting?
Not at all. Anything really important gets typed anyway.
Is your handwriting better with pencils or pens?
Pens. In my experience, they smudge less during normal writing motions. Pencils are more for math and drawing things.
When handwriting with pens, do you prefer ballpoint or fine tip or something else?
I've not preference either way.
What color of pen do you think makes your handwriting look best?
A nice black ink.
How would you describe your handwriting stylistically?
Is it loopy or rigid?
Is it straight or slanted?
Rigid and just a bit slanty. Although my signature is deliciously swooshy.
Has anyone ever gotten upset with you because of your handwriting?
Not yet,
How old were you when your handwriting seemed to stop improving?
I'd say things leveled off at around 14.
If you could write very neatly, but it would require 25% more writing time, would you do it?
Probably not, unless I was writing something very important.
What about 15%? 5%? 50%?
same as above.
How do you think you could improve your handwriting?
No specific ideas on that. I don't realy feel any motivation to improve my handwriting.
Do you respect people with good handwriting more than those with bad handwriting?
Slightly. I differ more to the actual words they've written.
Do you ever get jealous of your peers that have better handwriting than you?
Nope.
How do you think gender affects handwriting?
what about race?
Not in any consistant way.
country of origin?
Only if their CoO's language uses a different alphabet. Then I could see their writing style being a bit different.
Who has the best handwriting you've ever seen?
Not seen enough of it to judge,
Do you think that handwriting will some day be obsolete?
Only when we no longer have hands.
When you are writing, what letters do you think usually come out the best looking?
Not especially.
Which ones come out the worst looking?
For some reason, I'll often start writing a 'g' when I wanted a 'd', causing a lot of scribbling in the process.
Does each letter always look the same or are there large variations in how you write a given letter?
I'm fairly consistant.
What sort of surface do you find your handwriting is best?
paper with something hard underneath? something softer? a chalkboard? a whiteboard?
A fairly thick stack of paper tends to work best.
How are your teachers' handwriting?
Nothing special.
Does bad teacher handwriting inhibit your ability to learn ever?
Not at all.
What subject's teachers do you usually find have the best handwriting?
Languages.
The worst?
Math.

A nice smooth desk.
