Handy 19 Grumpy Old Men try AWD standard map

Lurker's Comment

Adding different civs skews where the game places you, especially with adding the seafaring civs. Im not sure if the order you select them on the setup screen doesnt have an effect as well.

Do you really want 8 players? The SG standard has been 5 or 6. With that many players it will take forever between player turns...

I like your start ALOT better! Are we in a corner of the mimi map?

That's not my start though, and I was in the top left corner of the minimap. I think killercanes right about the random opponents. When I tried my skills at your AWS map, I selected random opponents, and got different ones than yours, but the start was the same.

I agree that 8 while doable is a bit on the large size. If we have seven then lets stick to that. I find 7 works better.

Okay. 7 it is. The Lucky 7! :D

Problem is that we already had someone play 20 turns on the map in a different place. If we have played in two different locations, I think the seed number is dead as someone will have knowledge about the map elsewhere and we shouldn't play that seed at all.

It looks like only Rat has played, so we do have his start. I don't want to try again starting at a different location with the same seed.

I agree with Greebley, either we continue with my 20 turns or we each roll new starts...
I did assign every civ as random, so maybe own might have assigned some during his turn.

So, do we go for my start or re-roll?

Let's just play Rat's save. and welcome back Bugs. :D

I'll play a quick 10 turns, so i got it.

Decide to work some BG with the worker.
Stupid cow is in the wrong place, so our next city will be CxxxC. It’s that or cross the river. May as well have a little room for the capital. Also – it’s away from the enemy.

Turn 1 2950
BW – WC is cheaper than wheel, so I picked WC.
We have to raise lux.

Turn 3 2850
Settler – spear
Drop lux

Turn 4 2800
-

Turn 5 2750
The new city is a mother load of BG on the river with some forest thrown in. Nice Glib location.

Turn 6 2710
Found Elvis and wheat appears from the fog. It’s not in Elvis 20, but we can work it from another river city.
Set Elvis for a “grow in 5 worker in 5”. We have a lot of tiles to improve.

Turn 7 2670
Mine done, start a road.

Turn 9 2590
Spear – Spear
Worker goes out to poke around a little to the safe south.

Turn 10 2550
Worker moves to cow.
Elvis grows and pops a worker next turn. You can change if you want to, but it would be nice to have another worker to mine all that BG.
With a little luck we can plant some good cities down here before we meet the AI, use the MW's to pop a golden age and bag the Glib while we put some hurt on the AI. :)

Looks pretty spiffy, good choice of starts.

Next city needs to be on those furs. Two luxes will help the cash flow immensely

With being agricultural Elvis will really rock. Hopefully you are far enough south to avoid contact until the empire is bigger.

lurker's comment: That graphics mod is a bit confusing. The tile to the north is a game tile, not a luxury. If you look, there is NO happy face. :)

Oh, you are right. :( That's disappointing. Nevermind...
