Has anyone ever worked at Costco?

Teaching and Pharmacy. I was in the medical field the past few years, but my company is going belly up. Costco is just one avenue I'm pursuing. I'd prefer working in the Costco Pharmacy, but if that isn't possible then retail or anything with stable hours. I'm wondering if their pharmacy staff are on a separate pay-scale than other workers?

I'd say probably--I don't know specifically about Costco, but there is additional training and experience required for filling prescriptions that warrants higher pay.

They have a separate pay scale. As do the optometrist, cell phone salesmen, auto center and the people who give out samples. Everything else is all together IIRC.

CostCo requires you to be a licensed pharmacist to work on the prescription side. I also believer their drivers are on a different pay scale, but those positions also require commercial drivers licenses.

Was there something in particular about Costco that was appealing to you, over other retailers? At the very least, if you had to work retail, you might as well work somewhere that pays on commission (I'd be shocked if their cell phone sales team wasn't paid that way).

Why? The post said you start at about 11 bucks, and get a .50 cent raise every 6 months, capping out at 21. That means it would take you a *decade* to make that much money.

If you have a college degree, even a liberal arts degree, you can make a lot more than 43,000 after a decade of work. If you were a full time classroom teacher before, you prob made not too much less than that right out of college.

Well, it's a decent enough living. Not a particularly brilliant one, but still.

Well looks like the store in my area is finally ready to accept applications. Wish me luck guys!

I don't think he [Jesus] would have made a good Costco employee.

Yeah, he once sold enough bread and fish to feed thousands of people, but the bill only included 5 loaves and 2 fish.

@Mistercooper,

You only worked 50 hours a week?

My god, you're such a part-timer.

Way back when you were my age, people round here would work 80-90 hours a week and were still expected to be at church on Sunday mornings.

Nope, but the pizza there is good.
