Hawk03-5CC Persian Astronauts

This will be a low-key war for the happiness it will bring. Do you think I should align Germany, England, both or neither against the Greeks? It would probably end in a stalemate, as hoplites are too dominant.

I will play today, but would like opinions on the Military Alliances first.

Well, we could, but there's always the danger that one side would gain the upper hand and pwn the other, and I'm not sure how long we want to fight this war.

If we get the Germans at war, then we've got an effective shield against Greek units. Since Lizzie is still between them, it's unlikely that there will be many cities captured, and it's more likely to end in stalemate, which is good for us. On the other hand, that commits us to 20 turns of war.

*shrug*

I don't think I'll make any alliances. 20 turns is probably too many. I will play in a couple hours.

Sorry guys, I need a skip.

Got it, but I can't play tonight. I'll do so tomorrow night.

Done, my turnset is relatively boring. Alex will talk peace, but he demands about a third of our treasury (140 gold) for it.

Pre-Turn (750 BC):
-I notice that England and Germany both have Mathematics and will trade both it and their entire treasury for Philosophy. Since Philosophy is pretty worthless in PTW, I decide to trade it. It is sold to Germany for Mathematics, 20 gold, and WM, and to England for 47 gold and WM. We now have a map of the entire continent.

IBT:
-A Carthaginian NM/Settler pair is trying to get in behind us.
-Persepolis: Horse->Harbor
-Pasargadae: Immo->Temple

Turn 1 (730 BC):
-Our warrior trapped near Greece is misclicked west, and finds a Greek Warrior/Settler Pair. He’ll try to kill them next turn.

IBT:
Zzz

Turn 2 (710 BC):
-Epic Phail, our Warrior dies. (0-1)

IBT:
-Carthage is building the GLH, yay.
-The Mongols build the Oracle in Karakorum.

Turn 3 (690 BC):
Zzz

IBT:
-Susa: Temple->Harbor

Turn 4-5 (670-650 BC):
Zzz

IBT:
-Bismarck wants to trade World Maps, no thanks.

Turn 6 (630 BC):
-We have a fair amount of gold, I notice, so I upgrade the Warriors in Persepolis to Immos. The one in Susa will have to wait for rax to be built.

IBT:
-Carthage requests a WM trade, Sorry, no.
-They also build a city in a location that is asking for trouble, and send a couple of settler pairs near Susa.
-Arbela: Galley->Galley

Turn 7 (610 BC):
-I blockade the chokepoint to keep Carthage’s settlers from getting through.

IBT:
-Carthage’s Settler pairs retreat.
-Susa gets a border expansion, the Horses colony is disintegrated.

Turn 8 (590 BC):
-Alex will talk, but he expects to get 140 gold for peace. Uh, no.

IBT:
-Persepolis: Harbor->Temple (I want to fix the unhappiness)

Turn 9 (570 BC):
Zzz

IBT:
-Otto complains that our Galley is in his country. Fine, we’ll leave shortly.
-Pasargadae: Temple->Immo
-We lose our supply of Gems.

Turn 10 (550 BC):
-Re-buy Gems from Carthage for 4 gpt.

Here's a Pic, just because:

Sabratha will eventually need to be "taken care of". ;)

Good job, :goodjob: we can get communications with everyone now, but don't trade our contacts away, so that we can control inter-continental tech trade until Astronomy.

That's odd, it was perfectly fine when I checked it.

Of course, we should buy communications (and WM's) of the other continent from Egypt. ;)

Should we do the alliance w/Carthage vs. England that I mentioned?
Or should we wait until we have the Republic, the strike against Germany & England ourselves?

Let Carthage do some of the fighting for us.

Overseer, if you don't already know, you're up. ;)

you should build your final city where Munich is so you at least get ONE luxury
also KT is an option :evil:
