Heirs to Heaven

You know who could maintain stability and peace? A regent.
I have been doing it without calling myself regent. In any case, I hope your words will be reality and that a regent will influence the kingdom to remain peaceful.

Who will maintain peace is the Faithful at large; the prominent leaders among the Great Houses seem to remove themselves from the image of peace as something to be maintained but rather as a goal to strive towards. There was peace before God's ascension, and there will be after, but only if we stop trying to divide ourselves. The declaration of a regent divides us along political lines; a schism in the church divides us religiously. There is no regent to the Divine Throne, at least not yet, but until God's return we must maintain an equitable peace, with all Faithful as brotherly equals.

True

We suggest that a secular steward be elected instead, so to ensure that any holy tittles can be maintained for the Chosen One.

I don't see what exactly is the difference between "a secular steward" and the Regent chosen by the Grand Alliance or any other nobles! Indeed, a Regent would in fact superior, as would GOD include the thought of voting for the Regent if it was not His Divine Will that we chose that particular Regent?

God did not give us our thoughts but He gave us our will. More importantly, He gave us our logic, and logically, if no mortal man is as great as God, then why should one occupy His throne?

The politics surrounding the throne sicken the truly Faithful. There can be no Regent, there can not even be a steward, only one who waits for the Chosen One to wait for God. The throne must remain thoroughly empty until a Chosen One presents himself from among the masses; I have no doubt, no waver in my Faith, that God will send us clear signs that His chosen has arrived.

And the sign will not be a self-declaration.

As you do not speak for God (nor do you process the theological wisdom) I will dictate that the manner of this Regent is questionable regarding their place in line with the Clergy. We do not believe the false one is suitable for the title of Regent. A steward (as long as their power is limited by conventions of the feudal) would allow us to maintain the unity of the great houses without favouring another, while Regent would be more permanent and borderline heretical.

And yet, I do not seek the throne. I wish only to protect the realm, until the High Clergy itself is able to unify under one of its own internal leaders. Right now, the Holy City is hopelessly divided; with division, Heaven will fall.

I do not claim to be God's successor. But, I do feel God has given me a calling, to help protect His realm until He returns. I have full intentions of stepping aside once He or His anointed successor returns to Heaven.

The House of Isaakios will not yet pledge its loyalty to Lucien de Toullies. If he can show that he is a wise ruler who can maintain peace and cleanse the High Clergy for its corruption, then the House of Isaakios will be more than willing to assist his effort and will provide all its resources to helping the new regent.

House Wychland follows suit with their Braxton allies and pledges their support to this Grand Alliance. Better safe than sorry.

Do you deny that our families were appointed by God? Do you not think He ever put into place a contingency plan? How do you know he did not plan for Lord Lucien to protect the realm until His more permanent solution took place?

I am, of course, not saying any of that is true, for I cannot know the mind of God. But you seem to be dismissing those possibilities out of hand without even considering them.

Will House Wychland follow House Braxton should they honor their agreement and shift to House Iskariota after Leodric is victorious at the tourney?

Wychland is Braxton's ally, not their servant. If Wychland chooses to support Iskariota, it will not be out of any sort of obligation.

A PROCLAMATION FROM HIS EXCELLENCY, THE LORD PROTECTOR AND REGENT, LUCIEN DE TOULLIES

It is unfortunate but I have grave news for the realm. As many lords and ladies prepare to depart for the tournament of Braxton and Faulhamer, they will be disappointed to learn that Balon Braxton will not be attending. Rather, a double will be, as he himself leads his troops against the lands of Faulhamer.

Furthermore, I have evidence that House Wychland is complicit in this plot, and will fund Braxton and his military ambitions. While not embarking on the plot themselves, by funding it, the House is just as guilty as House Braxton

While I appreciate the support from all in this Kingdom, I cannot let such an act occur, nor go unpunished.

By Order of the Regent, His Lordship Lucien de Toullies, I hereby call for the arrest of Lord Balon Braxton and Lady Jacqueline D'upont Wychen

Furthermore, as Lord Protector and Regent, I exercise my right to declare WAR upon both House Wychland and House Braxton.

I call my vassals, and all right thinking men and women, to this noble cause. While war is always best to be avoided, at times there are values that must be elevated above peace. This is one of those times.

ENEMIES! SURRENDER NOW, OR STEEL YOURSELF! YOU HAVE AWOKEN A SLEEPING LION! AND NOW, YOU WILL HEAR ME ROAR

House Taran declares war on House Braxton and House Wychen. We cannot stand idly by as Lord Commander Balon Braxton acts so dishonourably and while Lady Jaquline D'upont funds his mad crusade. House Braxton has also killed so many innocents in his mad rage and his completely wrong interpretation of God's will. God would never condone your barbaric slaughter. We hope that Lord Commander Balon Braxton and Lady Jaquline D'upont see reason and surrender themselves to Lord Protector and Regent Lucien de Tolles. But until then they will have to face the might of the Taran Riders.

God Rides With Us,

Lady Nichola Taran of North Thuria.

House of Koriates

Declares that a state of war now exists between House Wychen and Braxton and House of Koriates. The Duke of the North declares it outrageous that an honorable tournament to settle a dispute would be abused in such a horrific manner, and swears to fight on until justice is served.
