More troops are beginning to arrive. So far, we have the new troopers: das, Reno, and Dreadnaught, and the new snipers: jalapeno_dude and Banana P Lee.
More weapons and powered armour arrive at Shangri La.

UFO Recovery: Large Scout UFO / Mutons
More Muton activity in asia. Another tricky nightime mission in a forest. The Mutons are hiding in shadows and blending into the background. We don’t want to lose more troops like emu.
No armour is supplied for new trooper Dreadnaught, and he has to hide in the skyranger for most of the mission!
Wubba360 loads up with a chaingun firing incendiary ammo. Firing in random directions creates usesful illumination.
Banana P Lee claims his first kill, with help from jalapeno_dude. jal later gets his first kill, with quick reaction fire after a Muton showed itself. Promising young soldiers, these guys.
Shots fly out of the darkness as the team struggles to set up a perimeter.
JosefStalinator is caught in a crossfire, hit by three separate Mutons from three separate directions. But he stays on his feet! LittleBoots tends to his injuries, and he then personally gets revenge on one of the offending Mutons.
More kills for j_eps, and another Warman17. Swissempire also gets his first kill, shooting down into the UFO through a large hole in its roof.
Reno and das enjoy a scenic tour of the slightly-on-fire Siberian wilderness. An uneventful mission for them.
Later, (edit:Luckymoose) is first into the UFO. A Muton is sighted, but the others take care of it.
More kills could have been claimed, but annoyingly some of the Mutons didn’t quite die before the end of the mission.
Thankfully no XCOM deaths this time, but brave JosefStalinator was seriously wounded, and the docs say that he is out for a while. At least he managed 4 kills so far, equal with j_eps as the best score at this point.

Engineers in Puerto Rico complete another ‘Firestorm’ craft, a hybrid of human and alien technology. It is soon transferred to Shangri La to boost our defences over asia.
Later, the rest of our new soldiers also arrive at base. Some of the original squad members are given a break, while the newbies prep for action.
Research is also completed on the alien ‘mind probe’ device. Hopefully this can open the door to our own psi-training in future.

UFO Recovery: Large Scout UFO / Snakemen
Not much to say about this mission. Another battle with Snakemen in north America. No casualties.
One snakeman takes 1 plasma rifle and two heavy plasma hits, and continued fighting. These guys are tough!
A couple of our own soldiers stand out : andis-1 claims two kills with his hi-ex heavy auto cannon. One in a farm building, and one inside the UFO.
Sniper Banana P Lee also finds himself in position to add two more kills to his tally.

XCOM’s defences are tested to their limits. UFOs make a big assault on the southern hemisphere, where we are weakest. An alien battleship almost destroys one of our interceptors from our Australian base. We track several large UFO’s as they land in Antarctica – it seems they are either building a base there, or already have one in operation.
(Intelligence suggests this is an alien battleship)
Then we shoot down several UFO’s over water, off the coasts of Japan and Saudi Arabia.
Later, another UFO wave over Africa. This time, we intercept them over land – a supply UFO is shot down over South Africa. That nation has already stopped its XCOM funding, but we cant afford to miss out on the salvage from such a large UFO. XCOM high command decides that our rookie team is ready for a new challenge. This is the biggest target they’ve had to face so far….

UFO Recovery: Supply UFO / Snakemen
Due to mix ups at base, trooper Dreadnaught still hasn’t got armour! He is left holding the rear again.
Soon after landing, it’s a first kill for Reno.
Later, Reno spots another alien hiding in an orchard, in an area we thought we had cleared, almost snuck up behind us. Reno fires, but cant kill it. jalapeno_dude and others try to blast it, but also fail.
Terrish tries to take it out with a rocket – it goes astray and blows up infront of our guys! jalapeno_dude is slightly injured in the blast. tossi finally takes down the alien, claiming his first kill.
Then there are kills for ‘Circon’ and andis-1 as we storm the entrance of the UFO. It’s a big three-story craft.
As we prepare to breach the second level, an alien suddenly appears from the grav-lift and shoots at tossi. It misses him, but hits Imago – who is luckily saved by his heavy armour. Before the alien can fire again, Terris uses his quick reactions and blasts it dead.
We split up and take the other two levels at the same time. The top floor seems empty. But our team on the second floor is ambushed as soon as they exit the grav-lift. Luckily, its only a stun blast again. Reno remains conscious, and takes out the slippery snakeman. Littleboots is soon on the scene, reviving people with stimulants from the medikit.
After that, there’s no real resistance from the aliens. The last one seems to have panicked and dropped his weapon! ‘Circon’ shows no mercy to the alien scum…
