Please forgive this ignorant first post!

I've been playing Civ 3 on PC for about a year.

I just got rid of my eternally screwed up PC, and converted to Macintosh. I bought an Emac with OSX10.3, 1.25ghz G4, 512 RAM, screen res 1280x960, 40GB hard drive.

I just can't find a clear answer on what version of Civilization I can play on this Emac, if any, or if I need special software to do it? I'm not the most brilliant computer user, so any help would be hugely appreciated!

thank you so much.

You need the mac version on civ 3. There's no PTW and No C3C for mac. So you'll only have civ3 vinalla.

BTW you should update it to 1.29b. This is IMHO the best mac version.

Welcome to MacCivFanatics :wavey:

Trabpukcip has said it - you need to buy a copy of the Mac CivIII disk. They can be bought from the likes of Amazon - most Mac software is sold by mail order or online. Or you can probably pick a copy up cheap on eBay.

When you get it you probably will have an old version - mine was version 1.14, but you might get the latest full release, version 1.21g. Either way, you can upgrade it to the unofficial and unsupported, but better, beta version 1.29b2 by downloading the updater from the link in my signature.

With version 1.29b2 you'll be file compatible with the last PC vanilla version and able to play succession games with PC users, or join in the Game of the Month here, or use mods like Double your Pleasure created for vanilla.

Hey, thanks everyone. I got the Civ 3 up and running on the emac.

Is there any way to recover games that (banging my head against the keyboard) I neglected to save before a crash?

Have you looked in the Saves/Auto folder?
