Heretic_Cata's All in One Mod - Expansion

not 1 not 2 but 3 didnt know what i meant. Im talking about the game. The mythical creatures like the Golem. the futuristic tools. The fireballs. FIREBALS MAN
Forgot about those. Yea - i guess it does have a mythos tint. :)
The music and athmosphere are probably what led me to this idea. :)
Yes, some music definitley is mythological-ish - especially if you know where some of the songs came from.
I know this is probably a noob question, but If I rename the .biq from "My Mod" to "Heritic Cata's mod", will it work fine?
Actually it's not a very noob question - i never tried that.
But i think it will work just fine - the important thing is to not rename the folder "My Mod".

(well, technically you can rename the folder too - but you'll have to change it from the scenarios properties inside the biq file also)

Alright, thanks. :) And if it doesnt work, I have the mod saved, so I can always "install" it again.

xD I suppose your right. Well, now I must try it! :D

Hey there peoples! just letting you know that i have been in a very pirate-y mood lately (played paaskys mod/scenario like MAD lately) and was inspired to play yours but beef up privateers, frigates, and man-o-wars. i upped the a/d by 1 each for them and decreased the cost by 10 each (then fixed other ships costs but not stats) and i love it! there are big navies ive fought (as the british of course) and my navy has had its share of setbacks by a very active celtic pirate enterprise. so far i havent attacked fortress celtica but i have conquered the entire rest of the world with captured artillery (EXPLOIT!) from seige factories artillery plants and my various crusader wonders. as a note on effects of wonders going obsolete (hashishin and knights templar) they dont. lol. plain and simple you get +5% interest for the rest of the game (much to my delight!) and you keep the ability to spy for the rest of the game as well. sadly nothing can be done about this, so until the next expansion for Civ3 is out were out of luck lol.

back to my game though! its so fun! i play a fair amount of mods when i have time and i must say i always come back to this one and simply love it! its one of the few mods that i dont feel an overwhelming need to tweak (much) to my desires. well done my friend!

Thanks again :)

I'm so glad people like my mod.

Well, we can assume you found the fabled treasure of the Templars years after they dissapeared ... :mischief:
As for the Hashashin, we can assume that all the members were killed, but the boss (the "man in the cave") was never killed. Some say you can still hear his espionage orders being whispered through the walls of his cave. :D

...the title refers to the eddie murphy quote I left out the bleeped bits, you can supply them at your liesure.

anyway, what I've seen so far I really really like, some of the ideas are brillant.

I have no clue as to if this thread is even being followed anymore, but I gotta ask (hence the title) how did you get the Black Death to work...and how the heck do you protect against it? I didn't go through the entire thread post by post, yet, but I thought I'd ask while I send my kudos

I don't understand this part.

Thanks. :)

Of course the thread is being followed. :D

What do you mean by "How do i got it to work". Do you mean how did i put the different animation - or how it is enabled ?
For the animation part - you must simply look where the default animation is.
For the enabling part - check this post. Look at the "Disasters" part. Also, do not forget to check the "Enable Plagues" box.

How to protect yourself from it ? You can save your units by evacuating the plagued city. That way they won't die. As for the population ... they are doomed. :D

Thanks for the quick reply...now if my cable company worked for you, I wouldn't be sitting here waiting for 7 hours for the tech to come out and tell me why they can't fix it..again :). --that was a side-diatribe, it makes sense to me but probably doesn't translate to others well.

the eddie murphy line:...the quote is "ha ha very funny mofo" I use it when somethign highly delights me but irks me at the same time...watching your capital go from pop. 12 to 7 is irksome, (but fun in a weird way).

I hadn't even thought of the diasters. I thought you had added some cool new enhancement in the last few years (since I last played civ3) and was already churning out ideas of how to use it for other stuff.

but like I said the religion stuff/unit making buildings based on local resources, was just brillant. I'm just about to leave the first age of my first game of your mod and of everything I have played over the years (player created) this has been the most fun. (well the naked girl mod was fun, but that was years ago before I was married...and well in retrospect it is a little sad). Great work!

Probably not to us non-native english folk.

Heh - I know how that feels. :D

Neah, unfortunatley major changes cannot be made to the game unless Firaxis releases the source code of the game. And that's not going to happen. :(

I was surprised that no one abused the "buildings on local resources" thing as much as i did.
Naked girl mod ? I haven't heard of that one ... Yet a part of me doesn't really what to know. Just tell me this - was it with amazons ? :mischief:

it was the amazon units with the Busty.B.Proud of the moment(it was back a few years, so I guess Carmen or Pam, or one of the lamewatch crewettes) and fairly raw (for a family game) (for a german porn site they were tame..so it's all relative) era splashes. I did like the gold(silver, jade etc) as building icons though. All in all, you can get better dirty pictures but for what it was when it was it was interesting, not likely to give you hairy palms but enough to let you giggle when Boobsberg fell to the russians in 784BC.

and I sometimes don't make sense to natural born american speakers either, I'd really like to cop out and say its a cultural/language thing, but in the end I just go on stray tangents that you have to be wearing my underpants to understand. :) but if your english is a second language (or third or ....) I really gotta commend your writing. I'm having to pick up spanish as a surivial thing for the grocery store and most of hte time it's just me pointing and doing a gutteral apelike want-want sound instead of anything which might be considered a 2nd language.

From what I'm gathering, you've been waiting too long for your Cable repair guys to turn up . It's always the case...

Just thought I would drop in and say how great this mod looks, even if I don't have Civ III anymore... :(

Actually, I have got it still! Just not installed.

I think you put some info in the civilopedia when you click description
I've always been afraid of doing that ... :scared: I did tell Plotinus that i am going to.
Now that you reminded me, i guess i will start these days. :)

(Civilopedia) Persian Immortal from the Persian Tribe Screen also is an Invalid Direct.
Also Heretic would you like to hear any more bug reports & civilopedia corrections? I've noticed a few things here and there. (Covert Agency has a misspelling of Intelligence Center, Thule Society Entry is messed up, Almogavar unit doesn't redirect to the corresponding Small Wonder, Confucius Wonder only builds libraries on the same continent, etc etc)
I've fixed these.

If you folks find more (i know there are more) please post away. :)

I have begun a very slow but hopefully steady adding stream of civilopedia historical descriptions.

I want to start a new game with a new MOD. I have yet to try this one. I'm the kind of player who loves HUGE maps and long drawn out EPIC games with a ton of options and units available. Is this MOD for me? I also like to usually use about 12 total civs in the game too. Please let me know if this is a stable mod and if it sounds right for me. Thanks for your time. Any comments would be appreciated.

It sounds just about right for you. I basicaly made the mod ESPECIALLY for huge and long games - because that's how i like them. :) The game also has decent loading times even in the industrial & modern eras.
As for the tons of units - you won't be able to directly build most of the new units. The most of the new ones are elite forces - the bulk of your usual armies will probably be the usual. The new ones should be used as the first charge of an attack/as destroyers of defence towers/as guerilla/or as highly powerfull support units.
Oh and another small note - since you like big maps - resources are very important; placing a city with a resource in the radius will always give you some rewards. In my games i'd spend thousands of gold to keep the resource colony-cities heavily defended.

Post your opinion after you try it. :)

EDIT: Don't forget to download the patch too - it's important.
