Hermetic lore for FFH DI4 (not for use outside this game)

To Aeron: do you think you can elaborate a narrative way to replace the Tower of Arawn with the Spire of Rage? Or maybe think of any other location which would not be like in front of New Grigoria? I may do the changes on the map, when I do my intervention at the end of the round.
Right now I feel the area south of Grigori a little too crowded.

Also, "snake pillar" will not work. Hell terrein goes back to 'normal' when AC is low. It will change into 'rice' in few turns. Believe me a rice field signed "Spire of Rage" looks silly.

How do you feel about that?

I will take a look again and see what I can do.

Wow, I don't post for a day and both threads are two pages longer. :p

After reviewing those few pages I will respond to it-

No, I will not give him the missionary, I was just stating ideas. However, I do plan on giving him a long-term quest.

When the save is available again, I plan to make minor changes at best. Being Lugus, I will instead try to "lead" Gerran to wise choices in my opinion.

I have cleared this with Vandal already, but do you guys mind Lugus and Aeron going to war with one another? I'm not talking full out God war, but more like conflict in which we exchange banter, call each other a few mean names ect. Mostly just trying to knock the other one off their high horse.

I have returned. I'm now going to investigate the save file from before thomas and after thomas....that should tell us if this problem originated with the new civ.

Might take an hour or two to figure it out (not to mention all of the loading I'll have to do).

EDIT: I see Lgaard already investigated it. What's our next course of action? Do we delete the civ entirely, and ask Thomas to try something different? Or delete spellcasting units for that civ? I hope all spellcasting units added won't have this problem.

Ignore Thomas's entry for now, and go from the previous. Let others work, rather than wait on him. He can make it up.

Before posting a save, everyone should play through it for some time, just to check.

Good job on figuring that one out, Lade.

Please check my spoiler in the main game thread.

Let me know if that's ok. :)

Actually, I think I won't edit it until I ask you guys if this is okay:

The Bannor had to fight their way out of hell someplace, didn't they?

Seems like it would be okay to me. It could make for an interesting late-game quest.

That being said, shouldn't it be on the other side of the map, near the clan?

Plus, Gerran might not find it for a longer time.

EDIT: As long as any powerful units are held until the late-game, I think it would be ok. Gerran would just have little chance of entering the gate if it had a guardian in the high 20:strength: range.

Although I do see Vandals point, it is a little obtrusive for the early game. Could you make it a little smaller maybe i.e. take up less of the map?

EDIT2: Actually the size is good, I just don't know if the location is ideal, as well as it coming so early in the game.

Although one would suppose it had been there for some time, so we couldn't add it in after Gerran explores an area really.

Stick it by the clan if you really want to go for it, but it looks like a mid to late game quest location to me.

Hell looks nicer than I imagined it.... :D

Of course all the units would be held. Someone could probably put some unheld units in there to explain the origins of some demons if they wished. Or it could simply be a quest to break in, kill everything, and sanctify it.

If you feel its obtrusive sure I can make it smaller. Give me a second...

It's actually not that bad, and these are only suggestions of course.

I don't want to appear bossy. Sometimes that can happen, even when I don't mean it too. :)

I'm fine with that....but that's my opinion.

I believe dagda is going to take the last intervention each round to correct imbalances, remove things that aren't working, etc., so it might be changed or done away with if the consensus is it should.

So, I would go for it. It can always be changed later if it's a big deal. :)

only thing i'm worried about is the spread of hellterrain.

If hell terrain begins to spread, it may add an interesting twist to our storytelling and give that whole end of the world feeling.

Besides, there is already a patch of hell like 10 tiles southeast of N.G.

That would likely affect N.G. long before something on the other side of the map would.

Besides, if hell terrain spreads, I wonder who Gerran will turn too?;)

Mwahahahaahahah :D

Sheesh lots of stuff has happened.

I'm glad all the gods have set out once again the intent to be subtle. No one seems to have raised any objections to the inclusion of a bear hunter and Thesias so i assume they were okay as flavour units?

In reagrds to the gate to hell it seems like a good idea and definite late game epic story. not sure if it needs to be inserted now. Should be placed next to the clan if it is. Or on a island. The Bannor might end up wasting armies of units on the barbarians via ships etc.

I endorse the idea of God rivalry especially those that flow with the lore of Erebus like Lugus and Aeron. I was very much planning to make life diffcult for Junil if he didn't have too much of a problem with that. (I also assume he will love to lead the bannor on a crusade of any civ i attempt to adopt like the Dovello)

- Camulos's proposed interventions :nuke:

Verdian has raised a dersire for the interventions to not allways be directed at Gerran and i wanted some clarfication before i type up my quest tomorrow for stevenson (crazed scout - bear hunter)

In reagards to the Tower of Arawn has anything been decided on that? Is it now becoming the spire of rage? My intervention was going to have a Harbringer seek to bring out the choas within Stevenson and encourage him to burn and pillage the area around the tower (Can towers themselves be pillaged? - if not i was going to add farms or towns surrounding the tower to indicate their growth - perhaps also a held worker named Rose)

Any problems this could cause please raise them now. I'll be checking the most recent save and intervening tomorrow sometime.

-

Another more narritive intervention was going to be done to raise the ire between either the dwarven or elvish nations. Show their antagonistic ways to the Grigori hopefully culminating in a War between them if Camulos has his way.

-

Any other interventions might be mild or in response to other Gods. I do want to get intervention going that focus more on other civs then the grigori and the other gods. to make Erebus seem like a living world.

Quick note on the idea of Hell Gate. It is good, but definitely not for now. C'mon, it is not even Orthus managed to spawn yet.
Even if the Gate is far behind Clan - think of massive hawk exploration jumping from friendly city to city (open borders will soon be possible) - think about a random event (or lair result) with a teleporting portal. It is really possible that he could discover this spot much earlier than intended.
How about waiting till someone (Shaeim?) signes an Infernal Pact, and then modify the very same place where Hyborem spawns to the desired shape? Or move Hyborem to a desired, unrevealed, spot in the map.

I'm against putting hell gate into the map just now. Narratives? Yes, the idea may be introduced step by step.

Lade is it OK, if I remove it for time being? I'm not against the idea, but timing. Objections?

No, I agree Lgaard. Good idea, wrong time. And with extradimensional portals, it' not like they can't open up later.

Above all do not forget that the AI is as dumb as mud. They WILL find this gate, they WILL expend all of their resources hopeless tossing armies of minions at the gatekeeper, and this WILL unbalance it all.
