Hexette - 16x16 World Map 2016-10-05

I've got C3C now, and, as promised, I'm going to do .biq versions of Hexette. But before I do that, I'd like to ask if anyone has any specific wishes for them. Should I include the new Conquests resources? Replace some old ones?

I'm not going add a volcano, and I very much doubt I'll cram in a Marsh either. But perhaps there's a use for LM terrain in the MiniMod? Some other C3C feature I should be taking advantage of?

I'm no expert, but basically you're in C3C allowed to create dublicate versions of most terrains, which can have different graphics to the standard version, and partly different properties. The C3C Editor helpfiles should have more info, and there's, no doubt, helpful threads to be found here on CFC.

Hehehe a bit late reply, but I only just took a look at your map, which by the way looks cool :) One thing that bites be though is that you should lengthen the river Nile alot as it is the longest river on Earth ;)
Maybe the other rivers represented need checking also, I don't know :)
Anyway, just a (very late) suggestion :)

Feedback is always appreciated, late or not!

The problem with lengthening in the Nile is that if you let it stretch farther south, it connects with the Congo. I could let it stretch NE into Asia, but I don't think that would be an improvement. The only reasonable way to get it longer would be to remove the Congo, and I don't want that.

Similar constraints affect the other rivers - it's very little that can be done without getting unwanted multiple deltas.

Rationalization: The upper Nile isn't significant enough to warrant inclusion.

I played it, it was very fun! I played on Regent as the Persians, all other AIs were random.

I started on the edge of SE Asia, giving me Iron. I researched Iron Working and build an Immortal. I was with the Zulu and the Babylonians. The Babylonians declared war on the Zulu and I made an embassy. The Babylonians gave me all their techs, a world map, and communications with the Egyptians and the Romans for an MA with the Zulu. I attacked the Zulu with my Immortals and captured it, then built more and conquered the Babylonians. A turn after I defeated the Zulu, the Egyptians captured Rome, eliminating the Romans. So when I defeat Babylon, it's just me and Egypt. I built more Immortals and a few galleys. I could have built knights but it would have taken too long to build and since they're both 4 attack, I didn't think it would matter very much in the South American forests (where the Egyptians were.) Thebes was easy to capture and I won a conquest victory at about 1500 BC, with 10333 points :D

Changes: Make the cost of wonders less. It would take the whole game to build any of them. Try removing some of the bonuses that high difficulty levels have (their settlers in particular) because this was too easy for me. Other than that, it's perfect!

Wonders are actually perfactly buildable, as long as you resist the temptation to wipe all AIs early on!

The AI doesn't handle the map very well, admitedly. Tried Monarch? Gives the AI some help without the hordes of starting units they get at Deity.

Yes, I tried Monarch a few times afterward. Here is the problem with anything above Regent: even the slightest advantage in numbers is too much. If you're next to a militaristic civ, they get 1 archer. Since that can get to your city in 4 turns, you're forced to build a Warrior or be conquered shortly. A warrior facing an Archer and 1 of the AI's defensive units, probably another warrior, will probably lose or will come close to that. It's a great scenario, but that's the nature of a small map. So what might work is a lot of free AI units but not very many additional units. But again, great scenario!

On the wonder issue, the AI declares war on my very early no matter what, so I don't have much of a choice but build units and fight (come to think of it, I've never made it to the Industrial Age on this map.)

I played again and refrained from destroying anyone. I was the Aztecs and started in Africa, Monarch level. There are the Americans in Europe, the Iroquois in Asia, the Chinese in South America, and the Indians in North America. I decided to put my cities very close to each other so that I could have more than one or two. The Americans sneak-attack me and declare war. Nothing bad actually happened to me or them, but they refused to sign a peace treaty. The Middle Ages came quickly. The Indians destroy the Chinese, the Iroquois get Australia a couple turns before me. I pre-built Copernicus Observatory in Tenochtitlan after I build a library and university (I realized that Tenochtitlan made a lot of money that could be maximized and devoted to science.) I had most of the tech lead and thought that I'd go for Space Race victory. I build Newton's University shortly afterward, giving Tenochtitlan a 400% science bonus. At this point, people are just getting to the Industrial Age and are randomly declaring wars, pillaging a couple things and destroying a defender, then signing a peace treaty. The Industrial Age came by very quickly, but mid-Industrial Age I ran into a problem. The Iroquois began to get a tech lead. They were in Modern Times when I was researching late Industrial Techs. They had the resources for Space Race, too. They declared war and got my oil. I still had Rubber, so I built many Marines and re-captured the city. The exact same turn, the source of Oil was exhausted (so much for my thoughts about tanks!) I took some Marines and captured their city in Australia. This marked Modern Times. About this time, the Americans paid me a visit. Remember that early war? They want a peace treaty. I accept, of course. They're still in very late Middle Ages (lol.) I get my research lab and almost had SETI Program, but the Iroquois got it first. I did, however, build the Apollo Program, and had intentions of capturing Salamanca for Uranium. Just as I was about to do that, the source of Aluminum was exhausted. There go my victory plans. I thought about Conquest victory now. Sadly, the Indians built the UN and won the vote in 1996, so my world domination plans are gone.

This game in particular was very fun, and I hope that I can play more like it.

Changes: The exhaustion of some of the most important resources in the game is very sad when there aren't any others of them... Perhaps the disappearance rate could be decreased a bit because of that for resources that there are only one of.

I had a similar problem in one of my games. I was the greeks in N. America and 1/2 way through the middle ages the iron DISAPEARED! I wanted the game to last a long time so I didn't conquer the Babylonians in S. America. As the game progressed Spain, located in E. Asia gradually gained power until she controlled ALL of Europe, Africa and Asia, so I decided that it was getting a little unfair and I conquered the Babylonians, not one turn too soon, they had a gaint stack of death heading towards my city :( . Spain led the tech race by almost half an era from Industrial era on. I won the game in 1951 with a cultural 20k victory. I was getting owned so hard! Score: 621  After 40 minutes thats all!?! O well. I love this map, cheers to The Last Conformist :goodjob:
