Hm, can't see the unit actions panel (promotions, available actions, etc)

Hello All,

Weird issue - I can't view the panel in the bottom left hand corner that shows me icons for unit actions. Not a big deal for simple actions (I can use shortcuts), but it would be nice to see promotion options (don't know shortcuts for those).

Anyone know why that panel is not there? Seems like it coincided with the latest patch...

Thanks in advance!

I'm having the exact same issue post-patch! But, the panel will show sometimes -- however, it shows the wrong unit. I too have been using hot keys (I actually think the screen looks better without the stupid panel) but there is no hot key for upgrades or promotions. I'm about to go to war and I really need some upgrades and promotions.

How do I upload a screenshot?

This is the file name: Civ5Screen0003.tga
I'm using "PictureViewer" to open the file.

I've been able to get promotions to show if the unit moves first, fyi. Otherwise weird...

So here's the screen shots. One shows no panel at all. The other shows the panel, but the incorrect unit, while also lacking promotion or action options.

I'm considering backing up my save files and reloading the game......

My specs are above minimum (not by much). So, I'm running everything on medium. In the game I'm playing, the map isn't fully exposed yet. And, in previous games, even when the map was fully exposed, I wasn't having any problems such as these.

AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual
Core Processor 4400+
2.21 GHz, 2 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT

hmm...right, the system is okay.

Did you take a look at your settings? Might be, that some have been reseted by the patch.

Ive got the same problem and I checked my settings and nothing was amiss

In the meantime, can someone point me to a list of the hot keys to I can play the game in the meantime?

See p. 207 of the manual.

As far as I know, you can't upgrade units or choose promotions using hot keys.....that's what has me stuck because I'm about to go to war in my game and I really need to do some upgrading.

I've played around with all the settings. No luck. I intend to re-install the game when I get a little time. So, unless anyone has some suggestions, or unless this upcoming mini-patch helps, I'll let you know what the re-install accomplishes.

Hi,

Do you have any mods activated?
I did have the same problem, after the .135 patch. But after deactivating the mod "More unit information v1" the problem was gone and the panel back to normal.

So, I play using the CCMAT mod and it seems that other players using the CCMAT mod are having the same problem.

CCMAT encompasses many different mods including the InfoAddict mod, which probably affects the same lines of code as the mod you play with. That's probably the problem, viz. non-compatability. I'll have to wait for the mod to be updated because vanilla is, to me, unplayable.

InfoAddict does work in version 9 with the latest patch, but in latest CCMAT there is the old version 6, which probably won't work. Although InfoAddict doesn't modify the unitpanel.
"More unit information" is also integrated in CCMAT, so that will be causing the problem for you.
I would expect that updating all the non-working mods will take some time and then the old savegames may not be compatible any more (like the one I was playing before the patch :().

Actually with two patches out, it really is not vanilla anymore. It is starting to develope a better flavor.

Yeah, probably right. Really sucks -- first time I actually found myself having fun with C5.

More like they're getting closer to serving something that doesn't make me gag.

I'm thinking I should just shelve the game for 6 months, but then I'd be out of the loop.......anyways, thanx for the info -- once again, the civ community comes through!

Would I be able to alter that/those specific line(s) of code and just play the game as is -- with everything else the same but with the "more unit info" turned off?

It should be possible, but the M.U.I. is a complex mod with 12 files of XML- and LUA-modding. That will be a lot of work.
I think you will need to search for all the lines from the M.U.I.-mod in the CCMAT-files and remove/alter those lines. And there are a lot of lines in M.U.I. (i would estimate a few hundred of them).
If somebody knows a better method or have already done that, it would be a good thing.

Edit:
I've just seen an interesting folder in CCMAT. You can try to remove the three files in the folder \Assets\UI\InGame\ModsIntegrated\More Unit Information\ and see what happens. If it works you're lucky, if not, well, you're unlucky ;).

I tried it out and it didn't work, I appreciate the suggestion though. Anyone have other suggestions?

Also, if a solution comes up, I'll post it here.
