Aaaaah, then it makes perfect sense, of course, as he was almost certainly the #2 in power.

It looks like they can't be plotting either, as sometimes I see the "We have enough..." over the Vassal option.

No, that probably means you are at war with someone they don't want to be at war with....or something like that. It's best if you're at peace with all, but not always necessary.

It probably means the civ is at war with someone.

When you are at war with someone, "we cannot join the war on your side" or "we are afraid of your enemies" is shown.

That AI wasn't at war at the time, but was plotting. I've seen the other messages Seraiel mention, but that's under different circumstances. So it looked to me like he didn't want to vassal to me because he was plotting war.

Peace is probably best, and having the same religion more or less across the map so they won't dislike the other vassals, messing up relations. But it's not always possible, and in this case I had to start warring as too much time had passed trying to PV Kublai. Have just submitted the game now. "Only" got two peace vassals, killed 5 AIs, and capped the rest.

HOF Rules said:
Diplomatic Bonus Exploit

Liberating\gifting a city to a Civ you are at war with other than in a peace deal is banned as an Exploit. Repeated use of this tactic can result in diplomatic bonuses that are unbalanced.
It seems most of the #1 slots for Deity marathon AP victories abuse this strategy. I suppose they were submitted before the rule was instituted. But how are we suppose to compete with those games that use an illegal exploit?

There are not as many games as you think which were won with that tactic. I'm the only one who used it back when it was legal. In some cases, there might be +liberation diplo shown if you look at the save, but it had no effect on the outcome. And almost all of them could have been won without it. It doesn't shave turns off your win date, it just makes it a bit easier to lock in the votes...which experienced players know is pretty much a given. Early wins are not about getting someone to vote for you, it's about building the AP and spreading religion. All those games were all quickly played during one 2-week submission window, so I'm sure they can all be beaten with more attempts. I hope you do! I won't likely fight back to win back the spot, except maybe on Huge.

Just loaded my game, and towards the end of the loading process the game simply quit to desktop. Do I need to do anything in particular, or is it fine to continue? The save wasn't actually properly loaded, so didn't have a chance to do anything yet. It's happened a few times before, but not yet with HoF games. Started the game again and loaded the save, and it went fine this time.

You're fine.

Is there something wrong with the Histogram, or is it just on my end? No graph shows up, it looks more like a picture that has failed to load (a big square, but nothing in it).

When I click on View Image (using Firefox), I get this:

JpGraph Error: HTTP headers have already been sent.
Explanation:
HTTP headers have already been sent back to the browser indicating the data as text before the library got a chance to send it's image HTTP header to this browser. This makes it impossible for the library to send back image data to the browser (since that would be interpretated as text by the browser and show up as junk text).

Most likely you have some text in your script before the call to Graph::Stroke(). If this texts gets sent back to the browser the browser will assume that all data is plain text. Look for any text, even spaces and newlines, that might have been sent back to the browser.

For example it is a common mistake to leave a blank line before the opening "<?php".

I use NoScript, but civfanatics.com is allowed, and nothing else of relevance pops up.

The Histogram isn't working since about half a year. I believe Denniz tried to fix it, but wasn't able to. Very sad, it was a great feature of the HoF.

Okay, nothing on my end then, that is good to know. Hope Denniz or somebody else are able to fix it. Remember it was nice to check out when comparing games for instance.

A similar issue to this again, except the game doesn't actually crash. I posted about it here, but there hasn't been any replies.

Opened the game today to load the save, but it never actually loads. The game doesn't crash either, but seems to be stuck. Below is a screenshot.

Instead of the swirling globe pointer, there was a yellow hand this time. I can move it around, but nothing appears to be happening in the loading process. It appears to be stuck with the loading bar at the first 'tick'. This has happened before with non HoF games, and even if I leave it like that for a long time, nothing happens. The only choice is to go back to the main desktop, System Monitor, and manually end the program.

I hope there won't be an issue with this for the HoF, but I ask here nonetheless. The game doesn't actually load, nor crash, it is just stuck like in the screenshot."Your game is on strike!" :(

PS: In case it was unclear, the game itself has launched fine into the main menu, and I have clicked to load the game, and then this happens during the load game process.

The graphics library we were using stop working with an surprise upgrade web server software. Couldn't find an upgrade for the library. Probably take a complete re-write of all the graphs to use more modern graphics library. :(

Shouldn't be a problem if it never opened. Only way to tell for sure it to submit it and see. :crazyeye:

On the final results page for last challenge series the results for game 4 has been mysteriously duplicated to appear twice, as game 4 and game 5, and the numbers after that changed. Game 10 has become a mysterious hidden game 11. Anyone else see it this way, or is it only me?

Looks correct to me, unless I'm looking at the wrong page.

Thanks Denniz, then I hope there are no issues :)

That's odd. I see it like this:
Spoiler :
OKQ5pJR.png

Game 5 shows same as game 4 and from there on all results are in the wrong column. The real results for game 10 are off the page, but still count to the final score (and game 4 is counted twice towards the final score).
