Is there anything else than can impact it, like having a big military, despite less than 1.5x my power? He just kept saying "We're doing fine on our own"
He has to have less than average power, so don't leave weak AI's alive.

It looks like they can't be plotting either, as sometimes I see the "We have enough..." over the Vassal option.
No, that probably means you are at war with someone they don't want to be at war with....or something like that. It's best if you're at peace with all, but not always necessary.
It seems most of the #1 slots for Deity marathon AP victories abuse this strategy. I suppose they were submitted before the rule was instituted. But how are we suppose to compete with those games that use an illegal exploit?HOF Rules said:Diplomatic Bonus Exploit
Liberating\gifting a city to a Civ you are at war with other than in a peace deal is banned as an Exploit. Repeated use of this tactic can result in diplomatic bonuses that are unbalanced.

Just loaded my game, and towards the end of the loading process the game simply quit to desktop. Do I need to do anything in particular, or is it fine to continue? The save wasn't actually properly loaded, so didn't have a chance to do anything yet. It's happened a few times before, but not yet with HoF games. Started the game again and loaded the save, and it went fine this time.

You're fine.
The graphics library we were using stop working with an surprise upgrade web server software. Couldn't find an upgrade for the library. Probably take a complete re-write of all the graphs to use more modern graphics library.Okay, nothing on my end then, that is good to know. Hope Denniz or somebody else are able to fix it. Remember it was nice to check out when comparing games for instance.
Shouldn't be a problem if it never opened. Only way to tell for sure it to submit it and see.A similar issue to this again, except the game doesn't actually crash. I posted about it here, but there hasn't been any replies.
Opened the game today to load the save, but it never actually loads. The game doesn't crash either, but seems to be stuck. Below is a screenshot.

Instead of the swirling globe pointer, there was a yellow hand this time. I can move it around, but nothing appears to be happening in the loading process. It appears to be stuck with the loading bar at the first 'tick'. This has happened before with non HoF games, and even if I leave it like that for a long time, nothing happens. The only choice is to go back to the main desktop, System Monitor, and manually end the program.
I hope there won't be an issue with this for the HoF, but I ask here nonetheless. The game doesn't actually load, nor crash, it is just stuck like in the screenshot."Your game is on strike!"
PS: In case it was unclear, the game itself has launched fine into the main menu, and I have clicked to load the game, and then this happens during the load game process.
That's odd. I see it like this:Looks correct to me, unless I'm looking at the wrong page.
