Was this some sort of attack against me?

I am an American citizen, as well as a Russian citizen. I grew up in the Soviet Union in a way, though I am an American citizen right now. I am of both countries and I support both of them.
You have dual citizenship?

So, when Hitler was killing the jews, he did it because "you cannot export western democracy and try to somehow apply it to German politics"?.

The repression of a people is not a political issue. It would be if Russia denied certain rights to gays (like many nations do). But when police start beating people based on whom they love, well, then thats a different cup of tea altogether, and something needs to be done. This is the 21st century. You cannot simply use the excuse "you don't understand us" to justify repressive policies.
Police start beating people not for their sexual orientation, but for rejection of stopping unapproved demonstration. Conduct of Russian militioners (cops) was legal. BTW, Russia is souvereign state, and nobody couldn't to interfere in Russian internal affairs

I would ask that you please leave Russia out of these forums, thank you.

Why is that exactly?

Well I'm afraid your part of the world, if you don't want your country discussed then perhaps there is something to hide and something you feel somewhat ashamed of?

We talk and we learn and we get positive and negative attitudes from those in and around a country and it is something that helps us to understand a country, Garric you don't want the world to discuss Russia, and I am at a loss to work out why? I'd guess you love your country as do many, there's nothing inherently wrong with what Russia believes or some believe or what one man believes, it's all meat for discussion, I guess freedom asks you to speak of your own self too much and it makes you uncomfortable, but then I could be wrong? Inform me.:)

Just like the forum is going to leave America or China out of these forums?

Like I said, too few people can understand Russia. Russia is an enigma, you can not debate Russia here. You can't hold Russia up to your standards of America or Europe.

And no, I don't love Russia. The country is a mess, a place where I'm afraid to walk the streets after sundown. It is a country run by an authorotarian president and strangled by an oligarchy.

A single country is not as special as you think it is. Russia is quite understandable. This is quite similar to a comment I made in the emo thread. People complain about not being understood, and when people actually do they flip out and become upset.

This is the first time I've seen you say anything sensible.

So why is it exactly you're defending Russia again? Because only Russians are allowed to criticize their own country?

Do you think Russian authorities should abide by different moral standards than the rest of the world?

Gay rallies are forfidden in Russia, Russia must not be influenced by foreign devils, we cant debate Russia here... It is easy to understand Russia indeed. :D

Because I do not subscribe to your liberal doctorine doesn't make me intolerant. Excuse me for having my own beliefs and opinions.
You should know by now that in America, liberals are intolerant to those who are intolerant. :crazyeye:

Of course being intolerant or tolerant of itself isn't a virtue.

Why is "homophobe" considered such an insult anyway? Who are the ad wizards that came up with that one?

If you shortened "homophobe" to "homo," then that might work as an insult. Only bc people misunderstand you, though.

Moderator Action: You do not get to decide what cannot be discussed on this forum. If you don't want to discuss it anymore, then do not post in this thread and do not spam here telling everyone else not to discuss Russian policy. Strongly warned. I would keep that in mind if I were you, fresh off a ban.

Every country has its problems, and Russia is certainly no exception. Furthermore, I have no qualms admitting this, even though I'm quite fond of Russia. I advise against wearing those ever-problematic rose-colored glasses, garric. It's not helping anything.
