So they have killed the soldiers they took captive in Iraq. Although it will never be known, it is my opinion that htese soldiers were heroic, in that they didn't allow themsleves to be used as political fodder. They could have been turned into a devastating political story. I'll be praying for their families and comending them for their spirit.

So how do you guys think this played out?

If we find otherwise I'll retract, but I still comend them for their patriotism. It takes a strong spirit to fight for something your own countrymen are against. May they rest in peace.

Sad for those men, and their families.

But this is the level of hate we are playing at now...

No mercy will be shown by either side.

In all sincerety, we do not do this to our prisoners. Their are cases of Iraqis doing this to their prisoners, but the US hasn't done this. It certainly isn't policy as it is with these people.

The standard rebuttal to this is to indicate that the US policy is to not to kill prisoners, but rather to take prisoners randomly and torture them while killing people from 5,000 feet. Ho hum.

In other news, I think we should get out of Iraq, now ASAP, but NOW. To me the possible timelines look something like this:

Pull out now → Iraq collapses into civil war.
Stay and train security forces for two-three years → Kurds infiltrate security forces → Mullahs and the like stir up religious violence → Election goes wrong → Iraq collapses into civil war.
Stay for ten years, impose full democracy, rebuild the nation → Every party begins scheming against the evil imperialist Americans → The US withdraws after overseeing fair elections → Religious and nationalist groups turn their attention to scheming against each other again → Iraq collapses into civil war, and billions more dollars wasted.

You aren't in Iraq. Sure, trillions of dollars have been spent to make sure our bombs hit what they are supposed to and still we are the evil ones. We are alwasy the evil ones. Your right I think we should pull out and wait for another 9/11, that way the US has the moral high ground once again. Sure 3-100 thousand people isn't a big deal when you are trying to regain this illusory moral high ground.

Then why did you mention it?

and if another 9-11 were to happen, this time with Saudis and Syrians at the helms of the planes, would we get to invade Iraq again?

Preferably Syria. Because, by leaving we provoke them further by showing weakness. I know alot of good civilized poeple can't see this, and I'm happy for that, but the fact is it would bait these sickos further, as they claim they won.

One of those soldiers was from around here in Oregon.

Another 2 casualties in this pointless, pithy war.

Why not Iraq? Lets fight 'em there.

Hell, lets make Iraq teh International battleground. Every time nations have disputes, they can go bomb Iraq to rubble, and carry out their wars there.

Suffice to say, don't cite 9-11 as a justification for Iraq. Just because they are Arab doesn't mean they are responsible.

It is not US policy to torture prisoners. Nice try.

Interrogate, yes. Torture, no.

And we most certainly do not booby-trap dead bodies. That is forbidden by the conventions. But the insurgents dont seem to care about that do they?

Do you know this for a fact?

What exactly is torture is it only physical, or do all the suicides constitute a level of hopelessness among inmates, that indicate a never ending cycle of no trial, no geneva convention, no reason too?

You don't know what is going on there, and until you do it behooves you to leave the absolutes in the happy box surely?
