How did you end up in CFC OT?

OT maybe late 2002, early 2003, 15 years old, because you could hit refresh and there would be 4 new posts and they were more intelligent, civil yet pointy than the rest of the internet.

"Then everything changed when the Fire Nation Lexicus attacked"

This is the second of your posts quoting me in a row that I can't make sense of :(

C'mon man.

I point out all the time when people are wailing about how the REVEREND DOCTOR proved that peaceful protest works that without the counterpoint threat posed by X who was willing to let the streets run red it wouldn't have worked near as well, if at all.

Sitting proudly on top of a horse , bow at the ready ... :mischief:

I took a wrong turn at Albuquerque...

Actually, I spent about 10 years in the CIv4 forums, modding and offering support for mods and coding. I even wrote a couple of guides. I would pop my nose into OT every now and then, but I just couldn't break in for some reason, so I just gave it up. Then I was asked to help moderate in OT and here I am. I hardly visit the rest of the site anymore, at all.

A lovely post! Next time you are in the neighborhood, I'll treat you to something nice and make sure you turn the right way. :)

Well, I'm partly to blame for that, but welcome to Hotel Off-Topic... ;)

I wonder how many peoples lives CFC OT has ruin.

Despite having been around CFC, on and off, for close to 15 years, I've only just recently wandered into OT. Mainly to distract myself during boring stretches at work. Some threads are nice, some are crazy, some rather combative. I only enter those if I'm feeling feisty. :shifty:

CFC-wise, I think I first landed here around the release of Civ4, which I played extensively and made a couple private mods for. I also dabbled in Civ5 modding when the time came, at first producing a selection of unique flavour units for the barbarians, to set them apart from the regular civs. Then CivBE came, which I modded more than played (links on my signature) since it unfortunately never improved enough: its systems were notoriously complicated for the AI to handle. And finally there's Civ6, regrettably and frustratingly harder to mod than ever, but game-wise I like it better than Civ5.

As for the earlier games, I barely played Civ1 when I was very young, tackled Colonization more thoroughly, actually first played Civ2 on a PSX emulator (lol), and then picked up Civ3 pretty much on launch (after enjoying SMAC). It took a couple of patches for me to really like it (the RNG seemed specially unfair/obscure at first*). When I took my Civ3 interest online, I first registered in Apolyton, where I remember posting an incomplete AAR of the Pacific War scenario from Civ3 Conquests.

And that's my Civilization story. :)
