How do you break a WoW addiction?

I was in a similar case, except for being addicted for 2 years, not one and a half months. If you REALLY want to stop playing, then just cancel your subscription and delete it from your computer. That's what I did, one day I just said . .. .. .. . it and quit with no warning and I don't regret it. You can say oh it's easier said than done im in a guild they will be mad etc. when it comes down to it if you really want to quit just quit. Now. before its too late

Err. No. FFA is certainly used in the vast majority of high end guilds. That's the exact opposite of what you were saying.

Thanks for the laugh though, it's always funny when someone won't admit they don't know what they're talking about, but continues to post absurd, contradictory statements! :goodjob:

DKP has absolutely nothing to do with whether a guild uses FFA or a Master Looter.

Whatever Mise. Again, the whole master loot system was put into WoW to stop ninja looting specifically. Pretty much every guild I ever raided with my level 70 priest used it.

As for quiting it, most here have it right. Just do it cold turkey or dont do it at all. Eventually, its shine will wear off, most likely after you have done all the quests.

Having played WoW for a long time and having left the game twice, I say dont listen to anyone here. WoW is a very fun game. I say embrace your desire to play it and do it until you get your fill.

What caused me to leave the game? I just dont have the patience to deal with guild membership required to play the high-end content. I pretty much played to check out the quests and the game content involved. To me, it was like reading a book.....a really, really long book. But I simply hating waiting around for hours in a 20/40 man group inching through an instance so that I merely get a chance (a roll) at some loot that 'might' drop that I can use.

So, enjoy it until you find it enjoyable no more and then move on. No shame in that.
You said it. :goodjob: Best post in the thread.

I have played for 4 and 1/2 months and gotten my main warrior to 65. Fun. :)

As for grouping, I certainly won't do the 25-man raids. Only the heroic instances in Outlands at most, and maybe the 10-man Kara raids on weekends, if there're ever enough 70s in my guild. :)

Ive been playing about a month and a half. I dont have the will to quit yet i just want to play less right now and catch up on CFC.

Whats the difference between playing WoW and hitting F5 at CFC?

WoW might be fun? I dunno, I havn't really played it. But I did play Lineage 2 for 2 years or so and being without internet for a year cured me of that crap of an addiction. I've also played Eve Online for 6 months, and getting back to playing Fall from Heaven 2, CFC and Civ4 modding has cured me of that addiction. Even though I will play Eve Online moderately in the future as it's just such a great game and my friends there are awesome.

Dropped it 3 weeks into the game I had a mage with a mount and several low level charactors I simply found it boring.

I did find it addictive as with any new shinny game but once you figure the mechanics and experience the game play. The you see through the rather shallowness of it all. Once it started to grind out I simply stopped playing.

The longer it is before you attempt quitting cold turkey, the harder it will be when you do quit.

Stop playing now or you may end up 2-3 years down the track overweight, out of shape, no girlfriend, no social ability, no friends, no job and wondering what the hell you did to your life.

I've played the WoW free trial before, and it was really addicting. However, when it was over, and I was forced to stop (no way I'm paying $15 a month). Once I stopped, I realized the game wasn't very good, and was essentially the same thing over and over, and it was way too slow (you spend at least 5 minutes in each quest just walking! It's insane!). So, cold turkey is probably the best way to quit.
