How do you pronounce usernames?

This thread is highly amusing.

Now that Mr Hobbs is bullying gently persuading us all into recording our voices!

My built-in doesn't even work any more, but when it did... I know that feel bro.

I know how that feels, for some reason when I try using the site you all are using I mostly only hear pitchy static. I can Skype just fine with the inbuilt microphone on this laptop, so don't know why its this bad for it. Haven't been able to find my microphone though and have no idea where it is at the moment so I can't join in the accent parade

I cant even Skype with mine, it stopped working altogether. :(

Out of curiosity, what does Masada sound like with a drawl? I think he sounds fairly close to my accent (at least by comparison).

And Traitorfish, it doesn't matter which accent you have from the islands, Americans always assume a British accent is intellectual. We've got a complex or something. :)

Well, maybe tonight I'll have to try showing my voice, but I don't care for it. I thought I sounded pretty cool until I heard recordings. At least you guys could tell me if I have some kind of accent; I've occasionally been told I sound slightly English or something, and Germans thought my German sounded Russian.

Sorry, I'm not enough a fan of Star Trek.

Mine's s-trader (Trader as in trader)
I really wonder how you all think it ough to be pronounced considering the 'ij' diphthong only exists in Dutch.

:rotfl:

I thought "ij" was just a long "i".

So strijder = strider. You say it's really strayder?

I have no clue how you Englishmen pronounce the 'ay', but the 'ei'/'ij' (pronounced the same) is basically a contraction of the 'e' (as in pet, test) and the 'i' (which is pronounced as a j because of the contraction).

(If you would pronounce 'strayder' in Dutch, by the way, it'd sound like strider in English, so apparently all things are the other way round here ;))

This turned unexpectedly NSFW: http://vocaroo.com/i/s0WSHr1rRrlw

(apols for the muffliness, the mic was apparently too close to my mouth.)

Who scored?

Mise is pronounced Mise - everyone knows that; as in the past participle of mettre, mis but femininized with an "e" on the end.

So:

Still, Mise knows best how to pronounce his own name, I'm sure.

Dunno how I'm meant to scream that one.

My mic is kind of broke-ish right now. But several people around here have talked to me, either via Skype or in RL. Apparently on Skype I sound like Christian Bale's Batman, with a backing chorus of whalesong.
