I don't have the guts to try doing well at the capitals quiz. (Once I tried to learn the capitals of Oceania and then promptly forgot them all. Apia is Samoa, there's one called Melekeok, one called Nuku'Alofa, and that's all I remember. But to be fair, that place is full of little insignificant countries like Australia.)

I wasted quite a lot of time wondering why it won't accept "Somali", "Algiers" and "Tunis". Turned out "Somalia", "Algeria" and "Tunisia" were the spellings the quiz though correct.

Most undeservingly missed country on my list was New Zealand. I did include Tuvalu, Micronesia and Fiji, though.

Missed a few due to spelling. I can't remember the last time I studied any sort of geography. I think half the countries I could name came from watching sports (Olympics, World Cup) or from playing Risk online (maps/boards for all parts of the world).

I wouldn't let it get to you. Someone knowing where Fiji or Nigeria is located doesn't make a serious impact on anyone's life. (unless they want to be a teacher, then maybe). Just make sure you have good knowledge in what you want to do with a relatively well-rounded everything else.

I find it more interesting thinking about where I learn some of this stuff from. I was playing Trivial Pursuit a few weeks ago and the only reason I was able to answer one of the geography questions was from playing Risk on an African map.

Well, when I meant to include Dominican Republic, it interrupted me at Dominica, but it allowed me to write "Dominican Republic" after that.
