How many cups of char do you drink a day?

Question to British people (and tea drinkers):
If I were to start drinking tea, what easily-available type do you reccomend and what brands? I'm too cheap to buy the 'boutique' stuff, so the cheaper the better that still tastes good.

PG Tips is good. I don't know if you'll find it in the USA though.

From 0-4 cups, after I've had 1-2 cups of coffee. Though almost always herbal teas. If I can't get tea, then it's Diet Coke.

Twining's English Breakfast is a good default if you live in the UK, so I don't know what qualifies as "boutique" tea in the US.

PG Tips and Tetley are builder's tea - only drink them if there's nothing else or if you belong to the common people. :)

I always drink a cup of earl grey or green tea for breakfast and usually have 2-5 cups per day.

The only kind of respectable black tea I can get in the US (basically not Lipton piss) is either PG Tips or Tetley.

Ehhhhh sometimes like 5-6, most of the time 2-3.

Sure what's wrong with you atall? would you not have an oul cuppa charmeliazoid?

Dunno. If I'm going to drink something hot, it'll be hot chocolate, and I take all my caffeine cold and carbonated. Never acquired a taste for tea, maybe because of subconscious Tea Party affiliations (with the original 1773 one, not necessarily the 21st century one).

So if I get any urge to drink tea, I should avoid Lipton like a more virulent version of the Black Plague?

I had some iced tea from a can once. It was absolutely vile. Avoid it like the Black Death, certainly!

Well, iced tea is already vile, whether from a can or fresh.

Twinning's English Breakfast isn't too hard to find in the USA. I think I like Irish Breakfast a little more.

In the USA "Celestial Seasonings" is the workhorse of teas, mostly herbals, but "Stash" is another good brand.
