How many national anthems do you know?

I can't remember the words to the SSB so I guess that means I know ZERO anthems.

La Marseillaise was practically the first thing we had to learn by heart in French class back in 7th grade, and I can still sing it 35 years later. So that and the Star Spangled Banner. Does it count that I always sing the words to "My Country 'tis of Thee" when the British anthem is played? Amuses my English friends greatly-not.

same here, none.

I know the Italian one quite well. Not so much the British one. But then, the British one does glorify that old woman, and so naturally I would be less inclined to sing about it.

My own and O Canada, thanks to the NHL. I was on a business trip last month and impressed some chick from Toronto with my ability to rip off the Canadian anthem by heart. "We stand on gaurd for thee..."

I forgot the old Soviet Anthem, which I can recognize in a second thanks to the musical stylings of Nicolai Volkov. When I was a kid watching professional wrestling in the 80s he would belt out the anthem before his matches to piss off the yokels in the audience. Very educational.

I know:

1. The Star-Spangled Banner: I'm an American...

2. O Canada: I live right next to Canada. I've been to NHL games. Etc, etc.

3. Bilady, Bilady, Bilady: This is the Egyptian national anthem, which I know because I'm of Egyptian origin (second generation, and I've been to Egypt). It's a simple song, too.

4. God Save the Queen: I learned this in school; the music teacher was British, and when we learned "America" (aka "My Country 'Tis of Thee"), she had us learn the original lyrics.

5. La Marseillaise: Learned it on a whim after reading a translation of the lyrics ("Let's march until impure blood drenches our furrows." Really?).

6. Deutschlandlied: A friend of mine is learning German, so we humorously sang this en route to campaign work...It was bizarre.

So 6. I also tried learning the Hymn of the Soviet Union (to go with my Nikita Khrushchev costume), but I failed.

Words? One, USA. Melodies? Hmm, USA, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Israel, Russia, Greece, and I think that's it. So 1 or 8, depending on "know".

Can my class song count as an anthem?

Party hearty, rock-n-roll
Drink a fifth, smoke a bowl
Buy a keg and we'll get blitzed
Cuz we're the class of '86'
