How much do you tip the pizza guy? I have been delivering pizzas for about 8 years. Started in high school and continued through college. Now that I've graduated I am trying to find a 'real job', but its a little tough right now. Anyway, I was just curious how the Civfanatics treated their pizza guys. I have a good idea of the average tip in my hometown so lets see how you guys stack up. Oh, and here is one of the most pathetic things you will ever hear: I have taken over 25,000 deliveries.:(

One thing I have learned: when gas is expensive, the streets are sheets of ice, the house is 5+ miles from the store, its raining like cats and dogs-------you are never surprised by a bastard who gives you the exact change.

how much spit do you guys ingest on the average day along with those meals you dont tip for?

and I dont care what you say, gin and tonic is not an old lady drink

Actually, since it is a delivery, whether or not they spit has already been accounted for before you decide whether or not to tip them.

And yes, I tip. I usually just let them keep the change, which means that my tip fluctuates a lot.

Wow I'm cheap. Sorry mayakovsky, my rule of thumb has been $2 or $3 for the delivery guy, depending on the cost of the food. More or less strive for 10% of the cost. Pizza usually costs $12 - $20, hence $2.

Ok, three things.

1. The Queen drinks G&T, 'nuff said.

2. We do tip, but only for exceptional service. We don't tip someone for merely doing the bare minimum their job requires. Our service staff don't expect tipping for doing their job, but are grateful for it if they have provided something over and above.

3. The Queen drinks G&T, how much clearer could it be.

I used to deliver as well (though not for 8 years , how many cars have you been through?), so I always tip in the $5+ range. My friends always cheap out on it too, because they know I won't tip less

However, I found all the pizza delivering has permenantly surpressed my appetite for what used to be my favorite food.

Oh, yeah, and we never spit on food. If someone is cheap the word gets around, and we usually take their pizza last on any run, don't make much effort to be sure it isn't crushed or smooshed in anyway, and try to set it up so that other drivers have to take it (you know, friendly competition).

my pizza guy is quite far away, probably 10 kms, I feel as though he deserves something (also the fact that for a long time, the pizza hut delivery guy was a friend of mine, and hed give me some privledges).

G&T may be the drink of the queen, but Pillager likes it, do you defy pillager?

I pay them less than the full price, and tell them to keep the change. Just to see what they do.

No, really, I've never actually ordered a pizza myself (I'm 14). When I order a pizza I'll probably tip him a couple of dollars.

To those who said 10%: Why would you pay a tip proportional to the cost of the pizza? AFAIK, it's not any harder to deliver three pizzas than one. It makes sense in restaurants, where the price and quality of the food is usually proportional to the quality of service you get, but not with pizza delivery.

Where is the "There are no pizza deliveries in here because we're too remote" option?

LOL! Actually, you may not get it the first time, but delivery drivers have a good memory! The next time might find you sorry. But, I have honestly never done that to anybody. I am too paranoid about that when I get fast food. Karma!

But there are ways of getting a little revenge. A known non-tipper will always almost be the last to get his order and the pizzas will be less than oven hot. I know that is not much revenge but there is little else you can do without going to jail.

There is a certain factory in town that makes fitness equipment, who orders all the time. Once a week they will order a couple hundred dollars of pizzas. Now usually when you have a $100+ order you're thinking BIG TIP!:goodjob: Well, I got the exact change. I leave very P.O.'ed. The next week I get the order again. Well, maybe the guy just didn't know any better. Nope! Exact change! Of course, my luck I get it the very next week. It was very, very cold outside. I take the pizzas out to my car and set them all in the back seat with the lids wide open. Drive to the damn factory with all my windows down. Granted, I froze my butt off, but there was a great satisfaction of handing the guy $200 of ice cold pizzas. Very next week I got $10.00!:king:

We usually don't tip here. So it's zero! Nothing to the guy.
Actually it depends, if you have some extra, maybe just R$1 or R$2, but on normal situations, nothing.
I think it depends, every place has a "culture", if I can use this word.
