Do you have a comment to spare (;)) for my position that Satan is allowed to exist because God doesn't have the power to destroy him?

The reason why I did not reply to your comment was because you stated your position might be unorthodox, and I was looking for an "official" position :) I did read it though, and almost quoted it...

TBH your position makes more sense to me than "God wants it so".

(Disclaimer still applies)
If I let Satan posess me will I get superpowers? Or I could just sell him my soul in exchange for 3 cookies which I crave right now....
If you let Satan fully possess you, your body will have "superpowers", in the sense that Satan can use it until it breaks, similar to a permanent adrenaline kick where e.g. your muscles use all their strength available instead of being limited to using less strength than would rip the muscles loose from the bones. Your mind will be I-don't-know-exactly-where, possibly powerlessly spectating your body, possibly unconscious, possibly being acutely aware of Satan's presence, possibly experiencing Hell, possibly experiencing the feeling of your body going beyond its tolerance limits, or some combination of the above, which will be very, very unpleasant either way.

Also, just shouting "Satan possess me" is very unlikely to do it. It's not the words, but the invitation, which lets Satan possess you. You have to believe in it and want it. I doubt your current state with regard to the former.

I think satan could take Odin in a fight, but not Loki.
meh, never liked Loki that much, always preferred MadCat Mk2, much more bad@ss :mischief:

anyway, Satan has no power since he doesn't exist :)

Satan is powerful, and that's pretty much all we know about him. The only real ability we've seen him exhibit in Scripture is through temptation and stirring already-existing desires against God. That's why I don't like this poll. I can't exactly place parameters on what Satan can do, because Scripture doesn't make that clear.

Why does God let him exist? The same reason he lets any evil exist. For the development of the greatest good.

Correction...he is as powerful as 'you' allow him to be.

I disagree. We don't have the power to allow Satan to do anything. It isn't our will that's holding him back, it is the will of God.

Can he grant me the power to get meteorites to land in your lawn, spelling "Jesus loves you"?

I'm thinking not.

So what's the actual upper limit, in your opinion?

Well, for example, if you allow him, he can harden your heart to the point where you deny God and Christ and become an atheist.

 harden your heart...and become a atheist. I like that part

My point is you can either follow Satan and allow him dominion over your life or you can follow God. You most certainly can allow Satan to have power over your life in areas of sin. But you are correct in that it isnt our will that does anything, but Gods will working through us that does. Even Jesus spoke to that.

The bolded part then is the crux of our difference here. I don't believe we have the power to choose God or Satan. If God knows the future, our path has already been laid out. This knowledge gives us the assurance of the greatest good, and thus we don't need to fear Satan, and we skip over all the paranoia about the Devil that many more fundamentalist churches have unfortunately fallen into.

I still like to hear from MobBoss if as an atheist, I'm Satan's minion.

Minion may be too strong of a word. Influenced by, sure. What else should a Christian think? There is basically two sides...Gods...and Satans...you are on one or the other. Since atheists are clearly not on Gods side....well...theres your answer.

You dont believe in freedom of choice? I thought that one of the base tenants of the bible.

I think God has a planned path for us...however, we can jump the curb on that path and deviate from it by exercising our own will. I dont believe in individual pre-destination, as I dont see much evidence for it in the bible.

What about Hindus, Muslims and Catholics (if you are a protestant) or Protestants (if you are a Catholic)?

Do you really believe Satan is so powerful that our redemption is a battle between the influences of God and Satan instead of God and ourselves?

Eh. At least I understand a bit better why you wouldn't vote for an "intolerant" atheist.

Satan leads an army 133.316.666 Demons, he commands 72 Demon Lords (also called Hell-lords, -Kings, -Barons etc.), the Demon lords command on average 30 Legions of 60.000 Demons each.

Some literature suggest that Demons are able to reproduce both between themselves and with humans (producing lesser demons) however i am not aware on how fast they can reproduce, but if true their number would probably be considerably higher than the +133m estimate of mid 15th century.

What evidence have you drawn upon to make this conclusion?
