gracias senor!
BarryAuH2O said:I enjoy playing this mod and appreciate the work you did on this scenerio. I do have one complaint, why are you trying to start a political fight in a game forum? There are plenty of political avenues to state your opinion. I play Civ to escape my work, and want to keep it as an escape not an extension of work.
A few other points to ponder:
1. President Bush is the President, and no matter what we respect our leaders and refer to them not by last name, but by title. Whether you agree with the President, or not, it is a sign of respect for the office. If you do not like the President, respect him, but work against him in a political arena and win with issues and debates.
2. Name calling is for amatures. The comments about being a friend because he is an idiot, is nothing more than name calling and childish. In addition, the President is not an idiot, if he was why did Kerry not win?
3. I do not know who made the comment about the sniper scope and stealth to deal with Bush, but they should be aware that threats made against the President are investigated by the Secret Service. I know most of it was a joke, but I don't joke about bombs in an airport, do u?
Anyway, everyone is welcome to their opinions and to debate issues. I however want to focus on games and gameplay. When we do get political, let's respect each other, each other's ideas, and not resort to name calling.
I love this game!

To sum up: 1) the winners aren't always right (well maybe in a football game they are), 2) it has to be allowed to make fun of any person on this planet although there have to be 3) limits of tact and propriety...

1) I tend to respect people based on virtue, not position. Would you have respected Hitler had you been as unfortunate to live in his era? I generally feel that all beings demand respect on some level, regardsless of position, social status, religion, race, etc.
ownagehamster76 said:About point number 1: If Roosevelt, the man who lead us from the Great Depression to a world superpower in WW2 didn't earn the title of President in Civ4, then there is no way BUSH deserves it either. I myself respect the OFFICE of the presidency, which is why I will never so blindly offer my support to anyone who claims this coveted office. To quote Civ 4, "The term "free speech" describes a legal system in which a person cannot be stopped from saying anything he or she wants, as long as the speech doesn't cause immediate harm to those around him or her - even in the freest society, it is still illegal to shout "Fire!" in a crowded movie theatre. The benefits of free speech are many. The citizens may debate their government's policies and actions fully, without fear of punishment. A free press allows the citizens great access to news and information, allowing them to more accurately judge the events taking place in the world around them. (which is what we are doing. And now for the icing on the cake) Tyrants and despots rightly fear free speech more than almost anything else. On the other hand, free speech may be hate speech; it may be lies. Such speech must be allowed: once a government is allowed to determine which speech is to be allowed and which is to be suppressed, the temptation to abuse that power is overwhelming, and speech isn't free any more."
Have you checked YOUR civics lately? I would regret the coming of the day that any American city celebrates "We love the dictator day."
garric said:Funny you should say that.
FDR was probably the most despotical figure in America....
