I'd do the same thing my dad did when he caught me: say nothing and walk away. That saved me alot of embarrasment.

haha, i wasn't 'walked in on' but the speakers were on, and I thought I that the headphones I had on were the only thing producing noise.. ughh so i was asked what bands i was listening too.. then had dinner, im sure everyone knew. Every other time some evidence was found it was: SPAM! MINDLESS SPAM! the talk never helped in that situation, just another awkward car ride.

Well, I oppose pornography, but I suppose the only good thing about my thirteen year old (if I had one that is) looking at porn (female), is that it symbolizes that he is not homo (homosexual, gay). I would still be sad about that though, as it is immoral.

I knew many people at that age who experimented in a celibate way, by looking at all sorts of things. Just because they are looking at it makes them only curious, LJ. However, if it was a constant, I would be slightly perturbed, but accepting. It would not affect my view on anything.

Anyway, imo what would be more crucial would have been the child's views about the opposite (or the same, if the child is homosexual) sex, and of people in general. Then it should be explained that a porn film is just a film made by specific people, for their own reasons, and is not to be taken as a profound reflection of anything, and neither is it a guideline of how to have sex.
If the child has learned to respect himself/herself, and others, and had no reason to think that sex was anything negative, all should be ok anyway.

As far as the topic at hand goes, I'm not a parent so I cannot be sure, but I'd like to think I'd sit down with him or her and have a long talk about why what they were doing was wrong. Then probably restrict their net access for quite awhile and give some other punishment. Not sure what exactly.
