I cried today...

I finally watched the movie "Lord of War" this evening. And at the end of the movie I fu**ing cried. This does not happen often. But tonight I openly wept for the victims of my countries "foreign policy". I shed tears for the many hundreds of thousands of good, and innocent people who have died needlessly because of my nation. I have long suffered with the knowledge that my nation uses criminals, terrorists and mass murderers to further its commercial and political interests. I have known of this for a long time. But it was the ending of this movie that finally triggered me to openly weep over these atrocious crimes against humanity. The US gov has been hiring mercenaries that slaughter innocents for a long time. Back in the early 1900s the US sponsered South American terrorist/mercenary/murderers to protect the economic interests of private American companies (such as the Dole and Chiquita Banana companies). This crap could have started earlier for all I know. But I do know that my countries government employed mercenaries that slaughtered entire villages of Good people so that a few US companies could make their fu**ing money. Thats just South America and Bananas. What about the Middle East and Oil? This started to become a factor after the Second World War. Today we are paying for 50 years of fu**ing with the peoples of other nations. We the people of America are paying the consequences of the actions that have resulted in the profit of a few. If the tens of hundreds of thousands of dead people don't move you.. then perhaps your pocketbook will soon motivate you. Maybee then you(the masses) will finally take notice so that We The People may once again gain control of our government and stop this vicious cycle of death for profit from repeating....

Many Amercians seem to have at least some small knowledge of what our US Gov did in South America during the 1980s. And if the deaths of innocent foreigners does not move you, then you should know that American corporations and the US gov is directly responsible for the untimely deaths of tens, and perhaps hundrends of thousands of your fellow Amercians. This bull sh*t has got to fu**ing stop. People are suffering and dying so that a few can make obscene profit. How the hell can you people continue to buy your products from Dole Banana or Maxel House Coffee? These corps literally destroy the lives, and end the lives of good hardworking people. And these corps do this for the sake of money! If you purchase their products; then you are an accomplice to these heinous crimes. Know who you support when you spend your dollars. Don't give your money to the rapers and pillagers such as Maxwell House or Dole Banana. Let your wallet cast your vote. Stop buying from the Walmarts and McDonalds, and the Maxwell Houses and the Hersheys of the world. Buy from, and support the people! Let the corporate pigs die on the vine for lack of sustenance!

Heres a start.... http://fairtraderesource.org/links.html

This is hilarious! If anything this movie is propaganda also. The director was really pushing his own agenda.

Oh and we shouldnt buy bananas and maxwell coffee because of some isolated incident that happened in the 80s?

Useless boycott if you ask me. Although i do admit ronald reagen did some crappy things in the 80s im not going to weep a tear over this.

And you are honestly complaining about stuff america did in the 1900's.

I dont see anyone condeming germany for the holocaust anymore...

Thank you White Elk.

You will certainly get bashed by those who don't want to take responsibility for their actions (consumer actions mostly and willful ignorance) but don't become disheartened. Remember, it's good to feel but focus on the positive (as you've already done by linking us to the fair trade website).

One more tip I would have for everyone is to use thift stores as much as possible instead of dollar stores and Walmarts. Also utilize services such as Craigslist.org and Freecycle.org.

Maxwell House is a 'rapist and pillager'

Does that mean rape and pillaging are 'good to the last drop'?

Please dont even get me started:rolleyes:
No, please do, get started.

Yes, welcome to the America Hating Cult! Pay no attention to what mega corporations from other countries do, only American ones are evil! Walk towards the light!
So, because there is other, perhaps unacknowledged evil in the world, let's pretend that our actions as Americans don't matter?

You, I and White Elk live in America. Our actions are what we can control. Thinking that "there are so many worse than us" and then proceeding as if you heard nothing achieves nothing.

I think people's problem is that they see things as ALL or NOTHING. You want to eat meat, great - buy organic meat, it tastes better anyway. You want a TV, get one off of Craigslist or at a thift store. You'd be suprised at what a good deal you can get. Want to drive a car? Cool. But ride a bike too when you can, you'll feel great (biking gives me a high like almost nothing else sometimes) and even better, look into fossil fuel altenatives (like GreaseCar.com.

I don't not see any of this hostility directed towars WhiteElk as being justified.

You are really letting your emotions get the best of you.

Despite what you beileve not all capatalists are bad people.

This incident = bad does not = capatalism is bad

Can we use some logic here and not appeal to emotions over this crazy movie?

Thats ok il get my excercise in other ways. I like driving and it is much more practical for most americans, unless you live somewhere very crowded.

And i still dont buy white elks cry out. He seems a little emotional over a skewed documentary.

I dont think its about hating america either.

I just think people are really ill informed and like to jump on the "Capatalism is evil bandwagon" without realising there own countries are capatalist also.

Even Europe is capatalist. They just have socialism mixed in a bit.
But i dont hear anyone crying about BP or the other european oil companies when they have an oil spill.

In fact this whole thread just seems like white elk is trying to get attention, just look at all the emotional arguments the OP.

Bananas and coffee aside, the point here is that people are largely ignorant of the byproduct of what consumerism produces.

And no, it's not isolated. It's human and corporate nature that people will act in their own interest that suits them best.

On a lighter note, White Elk, when I first read your post I read "Lord of the Rings", and was like what,Lord of the ring made you cry for the victims of US foreign policy? That's where I decided to start all over

I thought it was "fog of war" and mcnamaria made you cry.

Bolded for effect, because blackheart is right on here. Blatant consumerism only fuels the fire for large coporations. This isn't about hating America, this is about stopping corporations that don't care about anything except cash, and don't care how they get it. Consumerism is a terrible product of human civilization.

Is white elk a troll or did he just miss the good our contry has done?

We're getting sick and tired of everyone trolling our country. I know how you can solve the problem. Get the hell out.

I hope you're referring to one quarter of the American population at best; the Republican quarter. The apathetic half and the Democratic quarter might get angry if you presume to speak for them.

1. What's wrong with emotions? Emotion is what he felt, and he expressed it. Plus for someone desperately needing attention, he sure did not post a lot in this thread.
2. I usually don't do this, but it's capItalism, not capatalism.

Playing spelling police are we? I never would of expected that from you. :p

And this seems like a big fiasco to me. Ive seen documentaries like these and all they do is turn me off because of the absurd accusations.

I really hate micheal moores documentaries for one.

you are right, as I think the original Americans would be shocked and appauled at what America is today, we ellect presidents who flip off public telivisions, and just recently New Orleans re-elected the guy who called New Orleans a "chocolate city" and these are just the small things, I personally think that what is happening now is no different than what heppend with Germany in the 1930's and 40's, Germany invaded Poland, France, Russsia one by one, America has invaded Alfganistan, Iraq, and now theres plans for invading Iran, this isn't the America it used to be:(

Humanity does this sort of crap all the time. Humans are made to be predatorial upon one another. I have no doubt that the US is responsible for a lot of suffering the world over, but then again, who the hell isn't?

"Lord Of War" isn't a documentary.

What's your point? So it is not wrong if others do it?
